Durbar Restaurant and Lounge

Our friends took us to Durbar for the noon buffet, but also for the decor. The restaurant is beautiful, and everything tasted good. Within two weeks we were back with more friends. After our meal we walked around admiring everything that had been done to make a beautiful and interesting environment.

This was the worst dining experience of my entire life. I would give 0 stars all around but it's not possible. We ordered two appetizers and immediately asked for the check to leave. There was ZERO service so those two appetizers and check took ONE HOUR total in that unfortunate excuse for a restaurant. Stay far FAR away from this restaurant.

My husband suggested Durbar after seeing a revue in the Shepherd Express. At first my senior Red Hat Ladies were like ????????? because they were not previously for the most part exposed to ethnic cuisine. (Some of then did not know where the Milwaukee Art Museum, our first stop of the day, was located! However, after trying your buffet items, they are now all converts. One lady made a point of phoning me the next day to thank my husband for the wonderful experience. My husband can 't wait to bring his Lunch Buddies to Durbar!

The food was great but the service was slow. There was only one other table of customers and it took over 2 hours to get our full meal. The staff were untrained. The bartender didn't know how to make the cocktails on the menu and made a gin and tonic with seltzer water. The host/waitress never took our drink order and didn't take our dinner order until we were finished eating our appetizers. Beautiful restaurant and bar but I would recommend getting food to go but not eating in.

I came here on a Saturday for their lunch buffet. The decor was nice but there were very few choices of entrees and very limited desserts. They didn't even have soup. The waitress was helpful but it seemed like she wasn't familiar with the drink menu. Well, she just didn't seem that knowledgable about the restaurant menu or the cuisine in general. The business meeting went well because there were only a few people so it was quiet enough but I would not go back for the lunch buffet.
