Austin Fish & Chips - Mission

We had dinner tonight, for the first time in a long time, at the Austin. We ordered a cod burger with fries and coleslaw and calamari with ceasar salad and coleslaw. The cod burger was really good as was the coleslaw and ceasar salad. But the calamari tasted like salty batter and not much like squid. Perhaps I should have ordered deep fried batter! The service was adequate, really the minimum necessary to take orders and get the food to the table. The decor is primarily left overs from the previous owner with various bits of equipment situated at the convenience of the staff and clearly visible to the customers. Atmosphere =0! Clearly this place is about the food so we will try it again, perhaps just sticking to good old fish and chips.

Awesome fish and chips, non greasy, fries are fresh and crispy, the fish batter is light and done to perfection, service is very attentive, friendly, nice ambience, clean, comfy, a 10 outta 10

Have had both takeout & dine -in. Service is very good & excellent quality of seafood.Take out always arrives hot wrapped the old way in newspaper.Seems to be busy at most times.

There a little pricy not bad fish a little bit to grease could be much better for the price they must pay attention to the fish fry please get it right if you want people to come back more then once very good fish bad fry great menu the fist was crispy to much oil ,let it drain well will try again like most of there food

Stopped in here on a Saturday just past lunch time. Lots of choices on the menu and my wife and I were both intrigued by the scallops and chips for $12.99. Large portions, fresh, home made coleslaw and six big scallops looked awesome. The batter was thicker than we like it and once you peeled the batter off, the scallops were about half sized from the way they first appeared. But, the batter wasn't greasy (which we hate), the fries were good and everything was piping hot. We both decided that it was pretty good but not as good as our "Go To Place" which is also in Mission. Lots of different choices on the menu and a variety of lunch specials as well as a number of all you can eat specials. Overall - I'd give it an A-minus.
