Boxcar Bistro - Missoula

If you are considering whether or not to dine here, stop hesitating and go right away! This restaurant serves the best French onion soup I have ever tasted - rich yet delicate, with tender onions and delicious sourdough. It truly deserves a chef's kiss. We also enjoyed fantastic tartare and foie gras on tasty bread. I ordered the whitefish with a decadent lemon caper sauce. We left feeling completely satisfied in both body and spirit. I would rate the food here a perfect 5 out of 5.

I rarely write reviews, but I couldn't resist after dining at this hidden gem. It's perfect for a romantic date night, which can be hard to find in Missoula. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We tried the beef tartare, burrata, steak frites, and rack of lamb, all of which were absolutely amazing. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful. You won't be disappointed dining here. Expect to spend $100+ per person.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The setting is quaint and private, perfect for a group dinner or a quiet date night. The restaurant is small, ensuring attentive service for each table. The food is cooked to order and prepared well. We tried a variety of dishes from the menu, including the charcuterie plate and beef tartare which were fresh and delicious. The wine selection, including a quality syrah, complemented the meal perfectly. The filet was a favorite at our table, rich and flavorful with a wine demiglaze. The only dish that fell slightly short was the Chimichurri Steak frites, which could have used a sauce or reduction. The prices are fair for the quality of food and service. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or intimate dining experience. It's a hidden gem that I'm always happy to be invited to.

For an intimate date, I would highly recommend this place. Large variety of wine options and some of the best fish dishes I've had in Montana. This place is tucked away on Wyoming street but it's so worth it to find. Also, they have a very nice charcuterie board!
