We have dined here a few times and it never lets us down.
Very good take away red curryRoti and rice were spot onThe taste was great, although the prawns were a bit rubbery.
This is a place that i have been a regular customer of over the years and enjoyed, but the quality is on a steep decline to keep the prices down. It is such a pity as you used to be able to get one of the best Pad Thai's or diner box's in the area. Now it is low quality ingredients, old oil to cook spring rolls and microwaves to reheat old rice. speaking to the new owner/son its more about the $$$ than quality food the store previously made. I'd agree that $7.90 for a diner box is cheap but would prefer to pay $9-$10 and get the quality back that this restaurant has had over the last 10 years.Quality = more customers, not hot rice on the outside and cold in the middle. MICROWAVE's = BAD!
We have gone to Khung Thai for many years and always found it to be superb. You can either dine-in or takeaway. The furniture is utilitarian, however, the friendly staff are welcoming and obliging. The dine-in food presentation for what is essentially a takeaway cafe is excellent. Our favourite Entree is the Wild Mushroom Wonton; they are bite size and have a lovely peppery taste. The samosa and curry puffs are not traditional. My favourite main is the Green curry, it is full of flavour and enough heat for me. I also like the Jungle curry which has no coconut cream in it. My wife loves the Larb Gai (Chicken mince) and the Yum Nuer (Beef salad). The soups are very filling and leave a warm feeling. It would be extremely hard to find another Thai restaurant that is as good value and has the extensive wonderful choices as Khung Thai.
