Bouillon Bilk - Montréal

On holiday in Montreal, we had two meals at this fabulous restaurant. Both meals found us seated at the bar which was very comfortable and also interesting to watch the action. The bar staff engaged in conversation, giving us information about the food, suggesting wines to pair with the food. The food was delicious and we tried items for the first time such as Duck Tartare and Hamachi, decorated with the tiniest of edible white flowers. I wish I could remember the names of staff, but I can't. On our second visit ( August 2nd) both bar staff ( male) were fabulous and the attention and friendliness from the person-in-charge (female) made the evening very special. In addition, another staff member (waiter tonight but on our previous visit, a fabulous bar staff too) came cross to say hello and to ask how our holiday had been. He makes a delicious 'gin and tonic' with homemade tonic water!If we lived in Montreal, this would be our regular dining spot. It is a wonderful place and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My and my wife were strolling donw the street looking a place have lunch, she looked inside of the window then said This place must be good she googled the place and we just walked in. We opted for the tasting menu($50 for person . And my wife was right(again... foods were amazing, staffs were even better, the place is on certain level formal but not to a level where it feels little pretentious so you feel comfortable . Great atmosphere! Hands down the best place Ive been in Montreal!

Sometimes the location of a restaurant does not matter. Bouillon Bilk is located on a seedy side street downtown; but just ignore that. Once you enter the restaurant, you are in a world of refinement and grace. The food is consistently of the highest quality, the presentation gorgeous, the cocktails and wine superb, and the seating comfortable and conducive to intimate conversations. Each dish is clearly the product of a great deal of thoughtful creativity. If you are not too hungry or in a hurry, go with the regular menu; however, if you are up for a culinary adventure, definitely get the tasting menu. The seasoning on everything is perfect, with some surprising flavor combinations, for example the lamb, which astonished with every bite. Some of the dishes appear a bit risky at first, like the squab with blackcurrant and cucumber—the flavors were all over the place, but I felt like I was devouring a work of art. As Nina said, “There are tastes here you don’t want to stop tasting.” Oh, and my appreciation to whoever arranged the music, which is excellent as well.

Very nice decorations , taste is ok point. Amazing wine sparkling selections. The cod was freaking amazing. Will come back! Expect to spend minimum 100$ a person with a good bottle of wine. Not recommended for BIG eaters. This is a place to enjoy the quality.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Everything's been well paired. Although one was down there that the scallops were oversaled. Maybe it was our plate. It is expensive, but good value. will definitely return
