Bidra med feedbackOur office orders food for lunch with nearby restaurants and I wanted to give this place a try since I enjoy Indian food. I ordered the basic butter chicken just because I felt like something not so spicy today (I know, I know, it's butter chicken and not Vindaloo or something more authentic). The bigger issue was that there was a dead ant in my butter chicken. It looked like something charred but it was a black ant. Instantly did not want to continue eating and felt ripped off. The other less impactful issue was that it was not very tasty. It mostly tasted like butter and I had to really search for an onion or other flavors. Kraft dinner (bechamel sauce) came to mind when tasting it. The chicken was fine but the sauce was really bland and not great (which is half of the dish). I expected much more flavors (spices) than there were. I can't speak about the more authentic dishes like Vinaloo but it doesn't excuse the butter chicken being sub par since the price is the same. Maybe the ant died from the blandness. Since I didn't go to the actual restaurant I don't know about the service (so not considered in the review) but so far the food experience has been less than desirable. After this experience, it's a pass for me. I have concerns over the cleanliness of the kitchen now and am worried about trying more dishes.
I got food poisoning from the butter paneer. Restaurant needs to be more mindful of cross contamination and sanitization. I am convinced of this because I ate it first and then got very, very sick: cramping and excessive vomiting and diarrhea. Without understanding what the source of my illness was, my partner finished the leftovers of the butter paneer the following day and fell similarly ill shortly thereafter. We called to inform the restaurant and the person who answered the phone was gentle and replied by saying that they don’t use leftovers and that they’ve been in business for 55 years and that their name is important to them. They didn’t really address anything about what they do to avoid cross contamination and may not be aware that this is usually the source of food poisoning. Something to consider when ordering.
You can't go wrong when you get Indian out of star of india. the employees are so beautiful, they prepared a large order (5 separate courts for us before place, although it was near the closing time on a busy Saturday night. we only waited ten minutes. an eating is rustic and cozy, even if the restaurant is a little beaten. but it will not matter if you taste the food: if they like it, they must ask.
The food at this restaurant was incredibly tasty and full of flavor. We tried the butter chicken, saag paneer, and beef curry, all of which were delicious. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere, especially the music, was just right. We will definitely be returning for more!
This special layer has the best butter huh there is in montreal. first, the owner is too sweet and very friendly. the personal is super hospitable and eating in person is a joy, as the ambiente is perfect. when they ask, they will make it special for them. her papar is also super light and crisp! 6/5 stars for me!
