Bidra med feedbackCool Dive bar! Pool, live bands, local fun lo-key atmosphere, a great place to burn off some steam
I work across the street from this place, and come here once or twice a week. It is as divey as it gets for sure, but if that 's your thing then this is THE spot. I now compare other dive bars to the inn as it 's know locally. I 've been working across the street for the last four years and have been coming here the last year or so pretty steady. It is a local spot for sure, but everyone is welcome. Some other user said something about drug use on the back, which is to say that smoking pot on the back patio is cool here, but IT IS LEGAL TO SMOKE POT ANYWHERE YOU CAN SMOKE CIGARETTES IN CALIFORNIA, so get used to it ya prude...That being said, there is an industrial park across the street where like 30 companies and probably 200 people work in the cannabis industry, so this place may occasionally smell like some strawberry cough. Anyways, aside from the drunk idiot this place is super laid back. Bartenders are super solid and Jute box is wifi connected so you can play just about anything. They serve the bomb ass food from the neighboring while enchilada , which is I must say a bit pricey, but has damn good food. Locals are a weird mix of people living on the boats and the hills in the area. If you want a legit taste of blue collar central California, this is the spot. cheers
Now this is what you call a great Dive Bar. There are dollar bills hanging and pasted throughout the place. I'm sure I have about 40 bucks up there somewhere where I wrote notes and and drew pictures on with a black marker from the years I've visited this place. You never know who you will be sitting next to in this place the crowd is so diverse. You have the 60 year old man with the Hawaiian shirt loafers, Bikers, a fisherman with 1 arm and some hoochies from the nearby town Castroville or people from Santa Cruz or even Monterey trying to be on the Down Low. It's always interesting and so are the bartenders they will treat you like a regular and even do a shot with you. They usually book really good bands Friday Sunday and there are always people on the dance floor. I kid you not, I've known quite a few people that have fallen in love at this place. Hmph, must be the sea air and all that money hanging around.
If you want a dive bar experience, this is it! Drinks are strong, live music is good, and the food next door at The Whole Enchilada is really delicious! Everytime we go here, I end up having a fun conversation with a cool person! Bartenders...ehhh, sometimes they'll get around to ya...but it does get pretty busy in there on the weekends, so I ain't mad at em. They make great drinks but they are NOT friendly!
The drinks are expensive but strong. The location is great and the restaurant next door is good. The best part about it is the live music and the great musicians that come every week. The owner is a great guy who has built a wonderful business enterprise in Moss Landing but he is elderly and does not get involved in what actually goes on which is a shame as it has lost him good customers and . He puts his trust in a manager that cares more about the little 'crew ' then about the reputation or the financial profits of the business. The all female bartender staff can and have thrown out good customers that they view as competition. They are also allowed to be aggressive and violent to customers and get away with it. They can get involved in physical fights and still work there but throw out people who have done nothing wrong. No one who goes there says anything because they know they could be next to get thrown out of the only local bar with live music. Some of the bartenders are great but as usual a few bad apples spoil the bunch. It 's too bad a strong fair manager isn 't put in to get the place in order (clean! , advertise more effectively to bring in more business (social media , and enforce a standard set of rules that applies to their own staff. They could also save money by cutting off all the free drinks the bartenders give to all their friends. If anyone marks this review as 'funny ' you can bet it was one of the bad apples there who are on a power trip.
