Villa Merian - Muenchenstein

Villa Merian is a historic place in Basel and it belongs to the Christoph Merian foundation. I am here because of a company event. This cafe, restaurant and park is one of the most romantic and beautiful in Basel. The service and quality of everything is great to a medium price. A most know and go in Basel.

The café is located within the Merian Garden and at the rear of the Villa Merian. As you walk around and behind the Villa you see the café and the stunning view of the lily pond and all of the green space. The lovely young hostess that assisted me was most welcoming during my short visit to this charming spot within the park. The atmosphere of the place is most impressive to relax. I stopped in for a quick beverage as I was touring through the park. I ordered a hot fruit tea which was served with a small biscotti. They also have salads, pasta, hot cold beverages, beer, wine, a nice assortment of desserts and more. Magazines and newspapers were available for guests. There were clean customer restrooms. Make sure to go inside to view the immaculately designed corner room with gold trim, a mirror and ceiling painting. Just stunning! Highly recommended.

Beautiful and isolated location for private, special events. Preferred and ideal for weddings.

We took advantage of the picnic offer. The basket was filled with lots of goodies and was very diverse. The delivery and return was very friendly. Something different, highly recommended.

Es fängt schon damit an, dass es auf ihrer Website ungenügende Infos hat, weshalb man Mails hin und her schreiben muss. Es wäre noch schön zu wissen, was alles im Picknickkorb vorhanden ist, welche Art Getränke dabei sind und ob man eine Picknickdecke dazu bekommt. Bei der Abholung des Korbes mussten wir noch etwa 15 min warten, da er nicht fertig war obwohl wir ihn auf eine bestimmte Uhrzeit bestellt haben. Dann kam das nächste Manko: Es wurde nur ein 2 er Korb vorbereitet. Dann nochmals Warten. Beim Auspacken bemerkten wir, dass nur ein sehr kleines Tupperware mit Käse und Schinken gefüllt war. Pro Person waren es dann 1 Stückchen Weichkäse, etwa 3 Stückchen Hartkäse und diesselbe Menge Schinken. Und das für 100 Fr.!!! Der Picknickkorb ist extrem überteuert. Und dann kommt auch noch die unfreundliche Bedienung dazu.
