Bidra med feedbackIt was a terrific dinner this evening at @mamagotofunasian in Express Avenue, Royapettah. They had a set menu with separate dishes for Veg Non Veg. Since I eat Non Veg on most of the days, I decided to settle for it. What did I have? Welcome Drink: Watermelon Beach Soup: Tom Yum Non Veg with Shrimps Starters: Street Style Spicy Dumpling Hot Basil Cup Water Chestnut Spring Roll Main Course: Spicy Bangkok Bowl Normal Sticky rice Kolkata Spicy Noodles with Chicken I did not have any dessert as I felt really full after tasting all the above. Noted the word “Tasting”. Yes. I did not have them all as it was shared with two more friends of mine. Coming to the restaurant: The restaurant is located in 3rd floor in the EA. It is a theme restaurant I fell in love with the interiors. Staffs were really courteous had a ever smiling face. About the food: I thoroughly loved each and every dish as it gave the taste of the authenticity (related to the name it derived from). There were couple of improvements which my friends noticed informed the same to the restaurant manager(note that this isn’t a major one and perceptions may differ). I would surely recommend this which is worth your money.
This eatery is situated on the 3rd floor of Express Avenue Mall and serves up delicious Pan Asian cuisine which I simply adore. We were there to have their newest offering of a set menu. This has a choice of Mocktails Blue Berry Cooler Watermelon Beach, Soup Tom Yum Veg or Non Veg, Starter Street Style Spicy Dumpling, Hot Basil Cup, Water Chestnut Spring Roll, Main Course Spicy Bangkok Bowl, Kolkata Spicy Noodles all with a choice of Veg or Non Veg and for Dessert Homemade Coconut Palm SugarIce Cream. I started with the Blue Berry Cooler and my choice of Soup was definitely the Tom Yum Shrimp Soup. The soup set the right tone to the meal and was quite spicy with the right taste of the Orient with lemon grass, galangal etc, I chose the sumptuous Non Veg dumpling a perennial favourite of mine which had a dollop of spicy black bean sauce which adds to the taste. The hot basil Cup is lettuce leaf topped with mince chicken flavoured with Basil which was just too good and was a one biter with the crunchiness, spiciness all mixed into one. The water chestnut spring roll was quite good with the corn adding a differing texture to it. My choice was the Spicy Bangkok Bowl with sticky rice for the mains. Its a big bowl and can easily be shared by two. This had a bed of sticky rice topped with minced chicken done in an aromatic sauce. Loved the fact that it was topped off with quartered hard boiled eggs ensuring a good protein dose ideal for a post workout meal. I requested an alternative to the ice cream on their menu and they graciously served their signature dessert, The Caramel Sponge Cake with toffee sauce and Vanilla Ice cream which was a sheer delight to the taste buds. The service was very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back to try more items off their extensive menu.
Was my first visit to Mamagoto Asian fine dining restaurant in Express Avenue mall, Royapettah. The restaurant is decorated in Chinese looking theme with lots of colourful art work. Began our evening with watermelon beach, a tasty watermelon juice with mint leaves and some real watermelon fruit pieces. Later had a blueberry cooler as well, though it was purple in colour and not blue. Tom Yum Veg soup was similar in taste to what I had in Thailand and China. It is served in both veg and non veg versions. Bite sized corn fritter balls was super tasty- it was like crispy Onion Pakoda, corn instead of onions. I would say this is a must try. Water chestnut spring rolls, Hot Basil cup (veg) and Street style spicy dumpling are the other starters we tried. Fried Lotus stem was tasty too. Kolkata Spicy Noodles (Veg) and Spicy Bangkok bowl (veg) were my main dishes. Again both of these are available in veg and non veg avatars. Bangkok rice bowl is great- rice mixed with spicy curry and mild aroma. Potato wedges were kept on top for decoration (non veg version gets Egg slice). Coconut ice cream was a great finish- had two scoops of it. Overall great experience at Mamagoto. Restaurant is slightly premium priced, probably because of expensive mall it is located in. One should budget about 1000-1500 INR per person for a good experience.
This place is best for those looking to try Japanese cuisine. It's located on the same floor as the food court in express Avenue.
Prawn Sushi along with Chicken Satay was good. Nice ambience. Staff are courteous. Explain the dishes in detail. Just opposite to PVR cinemas, you can book your tickets and can try out some good Japanese delicacies. Rates are on the higher side but worth it
