Dr. Rolf's Barbeque - Muskegon

Left this place hungry and ticked off. Came in, asked waiter for a few minutes to look at menu, and then she just disappeared. We waited half an hour then had to ask someone where she was at, after we ordered it was another half an hour before we got our food, being there total of an hour for five one course meals and a salad, three people who came in after us were in and out by then.I got my food and the serving portion on the meat wasn't bad, it wasn't poor, it was outright insulting. I got the brisket and I got the tiniest piece imaginable and finished it in two bites. My half salad looked like it was made for a child. The food would be good if it wasn't for the fact that apparently appetizers are the main course at this place. I would strongly consider this place a waste of time and money.

That's pretty good. I have the 2-meat plate with pulled pork, brisket, seasoned green beans and sweet potatoes. I also tried the fresh pressed lemonade. The lemonade was delicious and SWEET so fair warning if you tend to your on the tart side. The sweet potato mash was really good, but I would have done without the pecan topping, as there is nothing to add. The green beans had onion, bacon, a single touch of vinegar and were wonderful. Brisket was a good mixture of lean and fat and was delicious, but only a touch dry. The pulled pig was my least favorite piece, but was still delicious. I really enjoyed the grain bread waffle as it had great texture; not too dry, not too humid, not too sweet. It was a perfect companion for the meat. For the service it was fast so it was nice. And while I had no problems, I felt they were a little curt. A small warmth and greeting would have made the difference that could really surpass.

As a vegetarian I admit that this was probably a strange choice for us, HOWEVER gave us options AND the dirty feet are worth the trip alone. I loved them. We also tried the southwest salad and Beets salad (both well). We have a dessert waffle and some nice drinks. But the best part was able to enjoy all this outside in the social area for the summer!

With some work, it would be a 5-star experience. First the food was FANTASTIC! My wife and I brought our 4 children and everyone like food and drinks. The only feedback I have is that it was very confusing for the first time. There were no signs for “seat yourself” or “wait to sit”, we sat and it took us about 10 minutes to find out that we had to go to the counter to order, then were directed to get drinks at the bar. We were told, “we don’t have a diet, we have xyz soda” but we weren’t told the flavors....it was all very confusing. If there were signs or a leaf at each table explaining how to order and a drink menu it would have been a much less frustrating introduction. Everywhere, now that we know how to order and what to expect, we will visit again.

We went on a Sunday afternoon with some friends of mine. The server greeted us promptly. Our drinks came out fast. The food was hot and fresh. Tasted great. Over all a great experience. I would definitely recommend if just one or a party of 8.
