Sarante Bar Restaurant - Nagua

Very good food in Nagua. Aircon is always very high, bring a sweater. Very long time to prepare food but it is very good. Sometimes bring wrong sides, but for the city it's in, it's very good.

Good place to join with friends and drink some beers, they all good but they do have to train their workers better.

After my companions and I had few drinks and some grouper soup, I presented my credit card to the waitress and went to the restroom. On the way back from the restroom the waitress and cashier at the front informed me that my credit card did not go through. I was surprised since I had been using it all along at various locations in the Dominican Republic. I pulled out another card and she ran it through and showed me her terminal.... nothing showing on the screen. They said perhaps their phone line wasnt working properly and asked me to settle the bill in cash, which I did. I returned to the States and when my next credit card bill arrived, lo and behold... there was a charge on the statement for the full amount from Plaza Sarante. I immediately contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge... they said they would look into it. A month later I received a letter from my bank informing me they couldn't reverse the charge since the Plaza Sarante denied double-charging me and wouldn't refund the charge since I had no proof that I had paid cash for my bill! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! There are a bunch of CROOKS running the joint.

Very nice atmosphere (less in the week) and cleaner place. the children were sick by the fried food, but seems more associated with the change of food/oil from the usa.

Decent ambience but it was empty. We had the place to ourselves. My date had the ceviche with dorado and shrimp creole paste which I sampled and found it to be rather tasty. I had the garlic shrimp it was an entree but from the presentation it looked like an appetizer… The Piña Colada recipe was rather interesting. Tasted like they added a splash of Baileys liquor with the rum.
