Haz Beans - Nanaimo

We stopped in here for lunch the other day and discovered some of the best fish & chips we have ever had. You have a choice of cod or halibut. We chose the halibut and it was wonderful. Instead of tartar sauce it is quite a garlicky dip. I would have preferred tartar sauce. However the fish and the chips were both wonderful. Definitely worth a try. Coffee is excellent too!

I have been going to Haz Beans since it opened. The food is homemade and is very tasty. Kim has a loyal following and the staff and the food keep us coming back. She gets her fish free each day and makes a really good batter, it is always a toss up between the fish and hamburger, which is very good as well.

Five of us came here for Sunday Breakfast and, once you realize you have to order at the front desk (off wall menu), you go with your coffee/juice and sit at a table. It wasn't too long before breakfast came, exactly as ordered by everyone and we were really starving so everyone was pleased. One person ordered the eggs benny, and seemed to enjoy it as well.They only serve breakfast and lunch here but I would recommend it to anyone. Good food, fair prices and what more would you want?

This place has a funky little feel to it and the food was great. The soup was real old-fashioned and home made. Food other guests were getting looked very good.

Been here 4 times now, first time was pretty good, had soup for lunch after a run event with friends. 2nd time was really bad, we had ordered our coffees and lunch, we sat outside, waited and waited, after over 1/2 hour, my partner went to check in on our order, she forgot! We should of walked out. Food was terrible, had the vegetable soup, told us it was vegetarian, but it was obvious it had beef broth in it. Even our dog wouldn't eat it. 3rd and 4th time we just went there for coffee and muffin/scone. Coffee is average (Americano is what we ordered, but was clearly not Americano). The scone and muffin was dry and stale, but it wasn't terrible, and it wasn't great. Only reason why we stopped here was purely convenient. The title 'Haz Bean' truly is a has been...
