Voodoo Gumbo - Nashville

The food here is incredible; we've discovered our little slice of New Orleans in Tennessee! The flavors bring back memories of home. The staff is friendly and creates a warm, family-like atmosphere at Voodoo Gumbo. I can't express how wonderful everything is! During our week in Tennessee, we visited three times.

We absolutely love this restaurant! The food is incredibly flavorful, and the service is fantastic! Our waitress and the entire staff were very friendly. We were part of a group and running late, but they graciously offered us a complimentary dessert, which was such a nice surprise! The gumbo is outstanding, and a friend from Louisiana confirmed it’s both authentic and delicious. This is definitely a place worth visiting. My favorites are the jambalaya and étouffée!

The first time here, and it will certainly not be our last! Amazing Cajun food and ambience. I had a hurricane to drink, and the fried oyster plate with delicious spicy pommes and Cajun potato salad. Oysters were amazing, 10 big plump perfectly fried British oysters! My husband had a local design of beer, Edofee and a little gumbo. Everything was so delicious. It was my birthday, so they gave me a free beignet sundae. I think I'm in a food coma now. Brian took our order and was so helpful and friendly! ‘Laissez les bons temps rouler’

Updated Review My family and I went in to Voodoo Gumbo this evening and ordered our food to go. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who showed us to the To Go counter. I did ask for Herb who greeted us with a smile. After we ordered, I took a look around and the decor was very inviting, as was the music! All of the staff was friendly and interacted with our kids. Now for the food! If you get the beignets, eat them right away! They really were delicious and fresh. I didn’t want to risk waiting to get home so I tasted mine in the car. We also got the shrimp Po’ boy, catfish with hot fries, and seafood gumbo, all of which was great! Thank you for Herb and the VG staff for the amazing service and food! We’ll absolutely be back! Original Review: 3 Stars The food was pretty good but the beignets were not giving Cafe Du Monde. They were pretty dry and lacked taste. The fried shrimp fries and catfish atchafalaya tasted great. We also got a hurricane and it was definitely New Orleans worthy. I’ll go again but try a different dessert.

Etoufee is rich and incredible. Catfish has an excellent crunch. Awesome staff. Got seafood gumbo to go... top knotch
