Bidra med feedbackWe started with some salads and a bottle of Pinot Noir. The appetizers were delicious, and I had no complaints. For our main courses, we ordered smash burgers and fish and chips. My wife’s burger was cooked to a perfect medium and tasted fantastic. I chose the fish and chips, and the lightly breaded grouper was wonderful—it really allowed the fish to shine! The fries were also impressive. I honestly can’t think of anything that could have improved our experience. The staff was energetic and attentive, the food was top-notch, and it arrived with minimal wait time. Kudos to Persimmons! We will definitely be back!
After being seated, we noticed that our cups were quite dirty, with stains, and we even found a dead fly in one of them! I believe the cleanliness issue could be resolved by keeping the cups stored in the kitchen rather than leaving them on the tables until customers arrive. For our appetizer, we ordered the Cornmeal Calamari and for the main course, the Salmon and Grits. The calamari was enjoyable, although I think the dipping sauce played a major role in its appeal. The highlight for me was the salmon and grits; the salmon was cooked beautifully and practically melted in my mouth. The grits complemented the sweet BBQ sauce on the salmon, but I felt the sauce was somewhat overpowering, causing some bites to taste only of BBQ rather than the salmon itself. Since the salmon had a natural mild sweetness, I believe a lighter application of sauce would have enhanced the experience (though that's just my personal preference—you can always wipe off some sauce if you'd like). In summary, I recommend Persimmons if you're willing to pay for the overall dining experience, especially with the lovely view.
Came to persimmons for a special occasion and had a generally okay experience. Things were hectic when we arrived, so despite having a reservation, we had to wait about 5 10 minutes to be seated. There was mold somewhere (I think near the deck), so that scent would occasionally come inside and be quite off putting. We ordered the calamari to start and then the salmon for our entree. The calamari was probably the star of the show the portion, peppers, and aioli were all incredible. The salmon was well cooked, but I felt the BBQ sauce was a bit too sweet. Everything else was great. I write this review being more picky than usual, simply because of the price. Similar to other reviews here, the price does not match the ambiance, level of service, or quality you would imagine to receive at the current price point. I do want to say that the staff was trying their hardest and we really did appreciate that. If you want the water view, though, this is the place to go.
Persimmons is back in action! The new chef and management team have everything under control. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic. Enjoy delicious food at the best location in New Bern.
This is a great location on the water probably most beautiful restaurant I seen in my life. Their menu is another story. Why place like this has no raw bar or all the seafood or all the fish that you can possibly think of at this location and better tropical drinks .
