Elm City Social - New Haven

A wonderful culinary experience. Waitstaff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The menu was flexible and offers standard Entrees and many smaller, interchangeable panels. The bean cakes were excellent, like the bakery. A wide selection of inventive and tasty cocktails (loved the Petal Pusher), although a longer list of wines, also through the glass, would have been appreciated. Can't wait to come back.

Nice place. Good drinks, fun ambiance. Portion sizes were a bit funny; we ordered 4 small plates expecting them to be, you know, small. Some were (3 duck sliders) but some were not (trough of brussel sprouts). Wish it had been a bit clearer what we were in for with that side of the menu. The only deal breaker for me is likely to be beyond the restaurant's control horrid odor from the cigar bar next door. It was a lovely summer evening, and Elm City Social had it's big front doors and windows open. Despite it being a perfect night to sit outside to drink, eat, and people watch, I was delighted to be seated in the dark back dining room as the stink of smoke was overpowering. I find the smell of cigars to be vile; your mileage may vary. Again, not much ECS can do about it? Knowing that the cigar bar stench carries over, though, will prevent me from dining there again.

Met a few friends for Saturday lunch on a holiday weekend. The food and service was great, and I love how the doors are open in the front so that even if you are sitting inside at the bar, you feel almost like you are outside. The only thing is that the music is very loud. I've been to this restaurant several times and the music is always loud, no matter the time. This makes a bit more sense during happy hour or dinnertime, but not at noon on a Saturday. Small but good brunch selection, beyond happy with my chicken and waffles sammy.

Not really that impressed with this place. The table and seats were dirty. The service was horrendous as well. The food was ok. Had the sliders and deviled eggs which were fine. Had the ducky drink and a bourbon cocktail but wanted more but server was not attentive. Went to a place down the street for more drinks.
