St. George Tavern - New York

I made a reservation and arrived, but the restaurant was completely closed, so I couldn’t eat there!

This restaurant is no longer the charming tavern depicted in the pictures. More than half of the bottles at the bar have been replaced with two large-screen TVs, cereal dispensers, and other miscellaneous items. Instead of a traditional menu, we were handed a one-page pub-style menu along with a full binder of dim sum and Asian dishes. While the food was good, it didn't live up to our expectations of a cozy tavern atmosphere. Perhaps it has a lively vibe during weekday lunches, but our Saturday visit at 2:00 PM left us feeling disappointed.

This resturant did not match what is on google or Open Table. I think the business was purchased. It was a chinese resturant. It was extremely disappointing

The staff was incredibly attentive, the food was fresh, drinks were consistently refilled, and the ambiance was excellent.

Very bad experience... unfortunately. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and had the (not so great) idea to go down to take a breakfast there on a Saturday morning, with the kids it looked better then go out at the cold whether but OMG! The worse service EVER seeing: the front desk guys was kind but after that, the waitress (a bald guy) started to speak Spanish with us (super fast) we normally understand some Spanish but he didn 't look worry about us to understand or not.. he looked stressed. He got our drinks because it was his service, the waitress (Asian women) never came at our table to pick our order up.. so we called her and she looked a little upset about that. She was a little rude explain to us that when I asked for the toppings pancake on the side, she is ordering on the iPad as sauce on the side ... and I said ok. No problem. I cannot explain all the details but I really not recommend this restaurant, and the star is only because the eggs were good.
