Mandarin Bistro - Newbury Park

It's great to have a Chinese restaurant, now under new management, located far from areas with large Chinese populations (like Downtown, San Gabriel Valley, Rowland Heights, etc.) that serves authentic Chinese cuisine, rather than the Americanized versions often found here. While the restaurant mostly caters to American tastes, if you're looking for something different on your next visit, I highly recommend asking for the Chinese menu. You might need to brush up on your Chinese reading skills, so consider inviting a friend who can help. The dishes you try will likely be unlike anything you've had locally, and you'll be glad you explored this option. They have an excellent Lion Head dish — and don’t worry, it doesn’t actually resemble a lion's head, and I hope no lions were harmed in its creation!

Excellent food! This is the best Chinese food ever! Everything on the menu tastes great! My husband doesn't like tofu, except her fried tofu. I tried Thai tea here for the first time and am HOOKED!! You have to do it! It is creamy, smooth, cold and only PERFECT!

Tucked away from the usual spots, this place offers an incredibly authentic experience. My friend, who speaks Mandarin, ordered a delightful little pork sandwich that was just wonderful. My shrimp with lobster sauce was absolutely delicious, packed with a generous amount of crustaceans. For dessert, we decided to try the sesame rice balls filled with bean paste. They were gigantic, sweet, and wonderfully gooey. Plus, there's plenty of parking available nearby.

This is the best Chinese food we've found in the area. They have a fantastic selection, and everything is fresh. The service is excellent, provided by a very tough and hardworking staff. Highly recommended!

We totally enjoyed their lunch special which was fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken. It was delicious, and the waitress was very pleasant! We will be back!
