The Local Table - Newbury Park

I absolutely love the Happy Hour here! The meatballs, sliders, and truffle mac and cheese are fantastic. Plus, the service is excellent!

My husband and I decided to give this restaurant a try, but I would recommend against it. I ordered the chicken piccata for $25, and it tasted like it had been frozen before—it was quite disappointing. When I asked for some pepper, I was told they didn't have any. What? My husband ordered his steak medium, but it came out overcooked and burned. To make matters worse, the temperature inside the restaurant was probably over 90 degrees during our visit. The waitstaff and other employees seemed very upset, which we could overhear. Overall, this was not an ideal place for dinner, especially in such uncomfortable heat. It's disappointing because we live so close to this restaurant, but there are definitely several improvements needed. I wish them the best.

For the next 30 minutes, Derrick, who seemed to be our server, did not return. Meanwhile, he spent a lot of time attending to customers who arrived after us, even opening their wine bottles. Unfortunately, no other servers offered to assist us. Finally, we were helped by a server named Alexendra, who graciously took our order. We ordered two 12-inch pizzas, which arrived at our table at 6:47 PM. If you decide to dine here, I recommend sitting at one of Alexendra’s tables – she truly provides the best service. Alexendra is the sole reason for a five-star rating in this review.

After reading so many Rave reviews, we were all very satisfied to taste this place and some of their most talked about dishes. Great fan of University Pasta and many reviews talk about how great it is here and we were a little disappointed. It was not bad, but it was a little fishy and not creamy. The bone marrow came to our table in huge bones, but in fact the atmosphere inside was very small. We tried to share and had to get another room. The handmade pig in the table was pretty good, and the restaurant Steak. The desserts were a bit uninteresting.

This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing and so was the margaritas. Even the pepperoni pizza my son had was excellent. So glad to find this restaurant in our community.
