The Basement On Market St - Newcastle

My husband and I were walking through the city looking for a nice place to eat when we stumbled upon The Basement on Market Street. What a fantastic find! This place has a fantastic atmosphere, from the cozy heaters at the entrance, the pleasant background music, the delicious food, to the attentive wait staff (especially Lewis, who was very welcoming). I highly recommend this place. We need more restaurants like this in the East End!

My friend from Sydney, who is quite picky, my husband, and I had a fantastic tapas dinner on a casual Tuesday night. Everything was perfect - from the delicious Espresso martinis and wonderful wine to the exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. We recommended the restaurant to our son and his partner, who also loved everything about it. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be returning soon!

Nice venue, friendly staff, the falafel dish was great $24.

Went here for their ‘Vegastation’ night and it was pretty great. Took my Omni Mum aswell and she loved it. There was a twist to some of the dishes, my fav was the jackfruit rice paper rolls. Left the night feeling full and satisfied

Best falafel I have ever eaten!!! Heaps of options for vegan. The staff was really lovely and mentioned they will be adding more vegan options to the menu soon!!
