Marron Cafe - NEWLAND

We had an explanation about marrons,saw the breeding tanks and tasted some wines,awesome experience.then we had lunch on the spot were the portions are good and the food was delicious

After a slow drive on a long, winding road, we made it to this surprising little oasis! Although we were too late for lunch, we did have some delicious fries and drinks. Followed up by wine tasting and our daughter got a tour of the marron tanks....including some great photos with some of the residents! Well worth a visit and next time we are coming for lunch!

I'm sure the food is lovely, but although we turned up just before the widely-advertised time of 3pm at which the kitchens were supposed to be closed, we were told that the oven had been turned off and cleaned - all they could offer were desserts. Given that it is a LONG drive down an untarmaced road to get to, this was not good news. Deeply unimpressed; yes this was in winter, but it was a sunny Saturday afternoon and we'd come across plenty of other tourists at various sites that morning, so we couldn't have been the only ones. So only bother going here if you want to lunch early!

This cafe is a hidden gem. Great prices, good food, friendly staff and extremely clean. I loved that their selection of food seemed to have an Asian flare with local foods. It was different than the typical fare found elsewhere on the island which was a nice surprise. Eat here and you won't be disappointed.

We ordered the seafood platter which was delicious. The seafood was cooked to perfection, which is what I'd expect from a specialist but I've had overcooked prawns / lobster before so it's great that the Marron were juicy and delicious.The 'restaurant' is a bit of a cheap makeshift affair, with a budget building and cheap tables & chairs (unfortunately a bit typical of the King Island tourist experience) which let the experience down a bit. The food and informative staff and Marron farm display though made it interesting and the prices are fair.
