Zhenghao Restaurant - Newtown

Non descript restaurant in Enmore, lots of different dumplings which are generally pretty good, have tried a few other dishes over a few visits, sweet and sour pork was ok but the salt and pepper calamari was disappointing, mainly just batter with a hit of pepper and very small slither of squid inside, very ordinary. Just stick to the dumplings and you wont go wrong.

We just moved to Stanmore and were looking for a decent chinese takeaway restaurant (unfortunately they don't deliver), Zhenghao had good reviews so thought we'd try it - we were very happy with the food we ordered for the majority of dishes. Best dishes were the Sweet & Sour Pork which was crispy and meaty, Special Fried Rice which had lots of different vegies, ham, shrimp and egg, Pork & Prawn Dumplings which had a very delicious slightly sweet plum sauce flavour and Chinese Broccoli with Garlic which was leafy and plump with a very strong but delicous garlic sauce. Just OK dishes were the Honey Chicken (not very crispy more soggy, but sweet tasty flavour), the Mongolian Beef (strong flavour was more like blackbean sauce rather than mongolian sauce, the meat was cut quite chunky and generally ok but some bits were chewy, it was not thin and tender like i expected and could have been better) and the Spring Rolls weren't the worst ones i've had but not the best either, they were cripsy and had flavour but still quite doughy inside and could have done with more vegie/prawn filling. Overall we really enjoyed the meal, it was hearty and flavoursome and really satisfied the 'dirty' takeaway craving we had, this is perfect for staying in with a good movie and pigging out.

Had dinner here tonight very good food. Dumplings looked good i wish id ordered some but we were too full. Egg rice was great as was satay lamb and salt n pepper fish. Yum shallot pancakes.

We come across this quaint little place looking for a quick meal whilst attending a concert at the Enmore theater. Wow is the word to describe this little restaurant. We had pan fried pork dumplings shanghai style. Pork and prawn wonton soup and Shi Chun Chili beef.Everything perfect and very reasonably priced. Will make it a longer stay next time when we .A hidden Gem. BYO
