River View Diner - North Bergen

Had a great meal. Free parking in lot. Their sandwiches are huge. Very much enjoyed.

This diner was once a far better eating establishment than it is now. The prices are on the high side, the food mediocre and rarely does the menu change. One of the reasons I stopped going is because of the steps leading up to the entrance. They are steep to say the least. A few years ago, the owners did a major facelift, but one major thing they neglected to do is put in a ramp as most places now have. It is difficult for elderly and physically challenged people to access the premises. There is a ramp in a very inconvenient place at the north side of the building. The owners should invest a few thousand dollars, put in a ramp adjacent to the stairs and make it easy for their customers to gain entrance. Also, updating the menu a few times a year would help too. On the plus side, the staff is professional and courteous.

Will not recommend this place to anyone. They literally asked me to get out as I stayed there for one hour having an important phone call. They said the server needs to make money, however I ordered the food, I asked if this table was reserved, the answer was no, there were bunch of free tables and I was never told there was a limited time. I faced this situation for the first time in my life, such inappropriate behaviour. It is like they came up to me and said: eat faster please, we need you to leave. I still left very good tips, but will never come back to this place again.

My first time here and I really wanted to like it. There are so many positive reviews, maybe I went on an off night. The owner/manager was very welcoming and initially the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered and the service was very slow. When we finally got our food it was bland and tasted like it was sitting out for a while- frozen and possibly reheated. The worst part was the cake we ordered for dessert which was dry and tasted like it was made days ago. In total it was very over priced for what we got. There are so many great dining options in the area, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Found this Diner just bypassing by decided to go in with my friend to have breakfast it is clean it is so friendly service is great and it was elegant you did not feel like you were in a diner you felt like you were in a restaurant the decoration is beautiful absolutely go there I highly recommend it
