Hickory Tavern - North Myrtle Beach

The staff is very friendly, and the food is absolutely excellent. The fish is fresh, and the steaks are cooked to perfection.

It was surprisingly empty on a Saturday evening, and we believe this is primarily due to the limited menu appeal rather than any other factors. This place used to be a popular destination, bustling with atmosphere and offering an excellent menu featuring several fresh, local options, such as surf 'n' turf with fresh lobster. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. It's quite disappointing.

The restaurant was relatively quiet, which is typical for January. However, both the full and lunch menus offered a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The fish selections were particularly impressive, featuring local catches. The service was exactly what you would expect for freshly prepared meals; our host was attentive and friendly. I started with the Crab Fritters and followed it up with a baked Cod dish accompanied by a delicious sauce. It was a chilly day, and the atmosphere would have been even cozier with a log fire. Nonetheless, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We never felt rushed, and when our host found out it was my birthday, he surprised us with a delightful chocolate treat to share. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

We had the shrimp tacos, the classic Tavernburger, and our own salad. Everything was delicious! We’re leaving Myrtle on Sunday, but we decided to eat here again before heading home! We are very pleased with our experience.
