Din Tai Fung - North Sydney

Like din tai fung and this is similar to the other franchises Best dishes imo are the xiao lung bao, the soup is nice and hot and pairs well with the pork insides. Make sure u pick it up delicately or the soup will spill Def recommend

Have tried various Chinese restaurants around Sydney. Din tai fung seems to be fabulous one. Dumplings are perfectly cooking with fresh soup. Xiao Long Bao are perfect. We really enjoyed them.

Essentially a jazzed up food court offer. It is quite convenient for a quick lunch option. The food though did take a bit of time to be ready. I got my usual order of xiao long bao, hot & sour soup, and a cold soy milk. The xiao long bao tasted good, despite looking a bit sad, but expensive given u only get 4. The hot & sour soup had plenty of fillings in the soup, and had the right balance of spicy & sour. Overall, good, but would be better if not for the wait & price.

No offence to all the Din Tai Fung fans out there, personally I think their dumplings and food are quite average at best. When my friend nominated here for our lunch date, I kept an open mind and was happy to be proved wrong. But once again it was a huge let down.  At least they were consistent.  My friend ordered noodles which I tried, but the broth was so bland.  I had steamed vegetable buns.  The bun itself was not soft and very dry; the vegetable filling was absolutely tasteless. The frozen buns I bought from Asian grocery store were better than those. When I have cravings for dumplings and buns, I either go to Cantonese yum cha or Shanghainese restaurants. Have different Chinese restaurants tried around Sydney. Din Tai Fulg seems to be fabulous. Dumplings cook perfectly with fresh soup. Xiao Long Bao is perfect. We really enjoyed her.
