Oliver Brown - The Strand Townsville

We waited over 45mins for a serving churrios, the 2 coffees came out 15mins apart and we waited over 20mins for a glass of water we approached the counter to get the glass of water but was told no it want be long. When churrios arrived the batter was still raw in the middle. We will not be rushing back.

Drinks were at least good, and hotter than at another well known chocolate Cafe down the waterfront, crepes with banana also very nice and caramelised superbly.

Nice and pleasant place for an evening meal. Food is uncomplicated and well priced. Staff were friendly and food came out in good time. We will come back

Nice location and fair prices but our timing wasn't great. Eftpos facilities were down and although we had cash and were first in line we were still made to wait 10 minutes to order. Most of the other 20 people behind us gave up and left. While we accept these things can happen, the staff member who was trying to fix the issue continuously called out that only customers with cash could order which was okay with us. However she then just disappeared and we were left standing them until another employee caught on that everyone was starting to lose patience and took our orders.The food came out reasonably quickly but was on the cold side and a cup of tea arrived as we were finishing our breakfasts. Plenty of other options for breakfast in Townsville so we won't be back anytime soon.

As far as a tourist town eating lunch in Townsville on a Sunday on the Strand be warned , do not go after 2pm. Most restaurants close their kitchen at this time and some like The Pier were not even open even though the sign on the door said open Sundays from 12noon.Oliver Browns was about to close but took our order. We would have expected fresh local fish on the menu but found only frozen whiting from interstate. Service was friendly and good while accompanying salad with the fish ordinary but fish cooked well. Steak pie good.
