Bidra med feedbackThe garden center where the restaurant is located was decent, though I did spot Father Christmas looking a bit drunk with a piece of smoked salmon hanging out of his cloak. We bought a plant that unfortunately died, a dog treat for my girlfriend's mom, tomato feed, and a mouse trap. Despite these quirky occurrences, it was a good value for money and a relatively uneventful day.
Formerly known as Wyevale, Dobbies Garden Centre now includes its own restaurant/cafe as well as a Costa cafe. Both locations offer coffees and cakes, with the restaurant also serving breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. In response to some criticisms about food quality, I would recommend the following: 1. Arrive early for a main meal to ensure freshness, as food is prepared in advance and may sit under hot lights if demand is low. 2. Opt for dishes that are made or served fresh, such as fish and chips or baked potatoes. Teas, coffees, and cakes are available all day, and there is an indoor soft play area for kids (with a fee). Outdoor seating is also available for pleasant weather. Overall, this establishment offers simple, affordable food that has pleased us on multiple visits in terms of both quality and portion size. It is a popular spot for older clientele, as well as groups from businesses and clubs, indicating their target customer base. If you are shopping for garden supplies, it is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee and cake break.
Today, my family and I went to Dobbies garden centre for lunch. Unfortunately, the food was awful and the service was even worse.
4 friends having coffee and cake on a Thursday morning. Kids play area out of action (thankgoodness as the noise can be defening). But it was just as noisy from the diners anyway. We could not hear each other speak ! The coffee was nice and the cream scones were alright. I had a slice of carrot cake, which was a little dry. What really brought tears to my eyes was the prices charged ! OWCH ! No we wont be going back there again, which is a shame because 3 years ago is when we first met up to arrange a crafting group to meet in our homes. c'est la vie.
Not sure why it was busy, on offer was dried up lasagne, the worst imaginable sausage roll contrasting a filling the texture of wallpaper paste and a children's offering where the highlight was a half round of chocolate spread sandwich. Coffee and tea ok!! Used to be much better before becoming Dobbies.
