Mc Greal's Tavern - Norwell

I made a reservation with ease on Easter Sunday 2021, and it turned out to be a wise decision, as it is quite a popular spot—something I fully understand after my visit! My friends and I were grateful to have booked ahead of time. We had plenty of time afterward to explore, thanks to the helpful staff who pointed us toward nearby shops and attractions. I felt very comfortable throughout my visit and can proudly say that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Cheever Tavern. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to friends, family, and anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Just be sure to make a reservation to ensure a smooth arrival and departure. We discovered this charming spot through Yelp while in the area for a tournament. The restaurant has a lovely country-style ambiance. The staff was friendly and the service was exceptional. We began our meal with some delicious sweet bread. For our main courses, we ordered steak frites, crab fried rice, and chocolate lava cake. The steak frites were fantastic—perfectly cooked with super crispy fries. The fried rice was decent but could have used more crab meat. The chocolate lava cake was incredibly rich and sweet; an additional scoop of ice cream would have paired perfectly with it. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely return.

The patio is set far enough away from the street that it's tranquil, and you hardly notice the passing cars. It's beautifully designed, featuring several shaded tables. With the fireplace and string lights, it must look lovely in the evening too. The drink menu is extensive, and there's a good variety on the lunch menu as well. The service was attentive, and the portion sizes were just as expected. The prices for the food were average, with some items slightly above average. The French fries appeared to be homemade and were a different shape than I'm accustomed to, yet they were delicious and wonderfully crunchy, exactly how I like them.

Had 2 delicious screwdrivers with the meal. I had the pork belly hash. Potatoes were perfect, pork belly ratio was perfect and cooked perfect. Egg was cooked to specifications of over medium and not overcooked. Ordered a grilled English because that's the only way to have an English and it was perfect too. All around great experience, staff was very friendly. Will be returning.

We went to Cheever for the first time this past Saturday. As someone in a service industry, I am aware of how hard everyone is trying these days and this place just wowed us. Service was out of this world, our glasses remained full, our food came out quickly and our waitress, Sidney, was friendly, professional and informative. The manager came over several times to check on us as well. From the moment we walked through the door we got first class service. The food itself was also amazing and with so many great menu options, it wasn't easy to choose. I have a feeling there was really no bad decision when it came to ordering. The white sangria was one of the best I've had. We couldn't have asked for a better experience at Cheever. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and drinks.
