The Original Pancake House - Oak Lawn

I visited this restaurant today with my son, and it was completely packed. Our server, Marco, was by far the best I've experienced here. He was quick and on point, attentive to all of his customers without letting the busy atmosphere affect his service. He was practically zooming from table to table to ensure everyone was happy with their meals. The service was impeccable, and he definitely deserved a generous tip. The food was excellent as well—especially the 49ers pancakes, which were the best I've ever had!

I couldn’t get through on the phone (which is hardly surprising), so I decided to go in and place my order in person. I spoke with the manager on duty and explained that I’ve had ongoing issues with my orders, particularly when I pay extra for an ingredient. In this case, it was broccoli. I mentioned that it always seems like there's little to no broccoli included, even when I specifically request extra. The manager assured me that they would add the broccoli on the side this time. However, once again, I returned home to find the same problem. I had to drive back to the restaurant to speak with the same manager. I asked why my dine-in portions are satisfactory, yet my take-out orders are consistently shorted. She insisted that the portions for take-out are the same as those for dining in, which is simply not true! As I was leaving, a gentleman who overheard our conversation approached me and shared that he and his family had experienced similar issues. I am a paying customer! I’m not asking for free food; I expect to receive what I’m paying for. In these challenging economic times, paying for something as simple as broccoli should guarantee that I get my money's worth. It’s incredibly disappointing, and what’s most frustrating is the lack of accountability. While they do have decent food, it can be hit or miss, and the customer service here is absolutely unacceptable!

The food was excellent. I tried the Apple Pancakes, which were delicious but a bit too sweet for my taste. However, I would definitely recommend pairing them with a side of eggs and bacon. The wait time was reasonable; it was quite busy when we visited, so the delay was to be expected.

This is my first visit at this location. The setup is beautiful! I ordered a spinach omelette with pancakes, grits, cranberry juice and tea. Oak Lawn location is a better setup . I made sure I took photos . The teacups/ coffee cups are even stylish butthey did not have any for me to buy. My server Melissa was pleasant and helpful in the request of removing an intoxicated loudperson. Thank goodness his friend decided to remove themselves .She retrieved the manager so we all could continue to have apleasant experience at this beautiful establishment.

Food has always been delicious the times I've come. I prefer this location over the one in Beverly on western. I've only ever had the western skillet and blueberry pancakes, but I plan on one day trying different dishes.
