Yaya Poke - Oakland

I ordered the medium poke bowl and was definitely full afterward (though the bowl size may not be fully visible in my picture). The portion size is generous, featuring two scoops of your choice of protein, along with any of the 17 free toppings available. The two other poke places nearby only offer about half the free topping options that this place does. My bowl had just the right amount of rice; I appreciated that they didn’t try to fill the bowl with rice instead of fish and toppings. The chunks of fish were decently sized, and both the fish and vegetable toppings tasted very fresh (I chose 13 toppings!). The house sauce was flavorful, striking a nice balance between soy sauce and a hint of sweetness and sourness. I also tried the ponzu sauce, which was okay but a bit too sour for my liking; I wouldn’t recommend it as the main sauce for your bowl. The only reason I can’t give a full 5 stars is that the spicy tuna and spicy salmon options come as small, minced pieces that resemble mush (more like a reddish paste). I would suggest using chunks of fish tossed in spicy sauce instead; even charging an extra 50 cents for that would make it look more appealing and sell better. Overall, great job! Keep up the fresh ingredients, good portions, and reasonable prices!

The poke here was quite good. The service was excellent; the woman preparing our food even gave us an extra scoop. Plus, the bowl was generously filled with no skimping at all. It's a cozy little spot with only street parking available. I would definitely come back if I'm in the mood for poke again.

It was my first time trying poke, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! The salmon was incredibly fresh, and the toppings were equally delicious!

My first time and I loved it! Fish is very fresh, huge chunks, nice size bowl, great price, fast service and very polite! Will be back.. maybe tomorrow! lol oh yeah and they also gave me a complimentary drink!

Food was delicious and quick to serve, plus they gave us huge portions of fish which was epic.
