Indian Machinaka Shop - Obihiro

Don 't make the same mistake I did and assume this is an Indian-theme/style/taste restaurant. It is purely Japanese curry in slightly different configurations. The main seller on the menu is the Indian Curry which is actually subtitled as Original Beef Curry , a bit ironic in my book, if you know the relationship between most Indians and beef. I ordered mine with cheese as an optional topping. I was disappointed that what I got was simply a slice of what looked like your general processed cheese from the grocery store. Saying that, the curry tasted great and I actually enjoyed eating it. If it wasn 't for the taste I would have given this 3 stars, due to the presentation, but the taste and quick service made up for it.

Not busy when we went. I had the seafood curry im not the biggest Japanese curry fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed the flavour and would absolutely go again. I imagine it tastes even better after a long day of hiking or skiing. Very affordable! Around ¥1200 for 2 big curries.

An Obihiro standard! Indian Curry has been around for a few decades, and it's a great place for classic Japanese curry. Portions are generous, prices inexpensive, and the flavor is top notch for this classic dish. If you are a fan of Japanese curry you should give this a try!
