Ruern Kaew Thai - Ocean Grove

The food is excellent and the service is generally appropriate. However, takeaway customers are often treated poorly. During busy times, it's difficult to get someone to answer the phone, and when you finally do manage to place an order, you may be told that the kitchen is closed—even with a full restaurant! On my last two attempts to order, they initially took my order, but after realizing it was a small one, they suddenly claimed that the kitchen had just closed. The kitchen is supposed to stay open until 8:30 PM in January, yet this place is advertised as a late-night restaurant on Urbanspoon. It's quite frustrating!

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food is outstanding, the view is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is delightful. It's one of my favorite spots; I make sure to visit every time I'm driving down from Melbourne. The staff is consistently friendly, and I’ve always found the service to be excellent. On the rare occasions when there’s a wait—usually during busy summer evenings with a lot of holidaymakers—they still manage to serve the food promptly without sacrificing quality. I highly recommend this place. Just be sure to request a window seat when you make your reservation!

Not great. While the views are fantastic, the service leaves much to be desired. We ordered a bottle of wine and were left waiting, only to find out they had run out of that option. We then ordered a cider, which was just placed in front of my wife without any glass. We had to flag down the waiter to request one. When we placed our food order, we ended up waiting for a long time. The waiter forgot to submit our order, and we struggled to get the attention of the waitstaff. After going downstairs, I finally found someone to check on our order. By the time 90 minutes had passed, we still hadn't received our appetizers. The food is good, but not exceptional, and the service is very disappointing.

Jon. Sigh. Reasonably priced authentic Thai food completely undone by frustratingly poor service. The floor staff just don't understand the customer service dynamic. The manager seems completely lost. So here it guys seat me, take my drinks order, come back after 5 10 minutes and take my food order, check in on me occasionally, clear my plates, etc when required, offer coffee/tea/drinks and desert and then ask if I would like anything else and am I ready for the bill. Be attentive. Put the mobile phones and the laptop away. Work hard. Your food is too good to be ruined by consistently poor service. Sigh.

Go here quite often. Love the food and the view. Great for the price. Favourites are the pad Thai and massaman curry. Wine selection is very poor often only have one bottle of those listed. No good if you are in a group of 6 or 7.
