Best cali rolls ive had sad to see them close. This place was a little hole in the wall but a total gem

When I arrived here I wondered how Yelpers had come to rate the place with 4+ stars. It doesn't look like much. In fact it doesn't really look good at all. But they do a real good job with the raw fish thing. Not knowing that the rolls and individual sushi servings are bigger than other places I've been (in fact bigger than ANY place I've been) so, I over ordered. Oh well, not only big but really quite good. They offer a big selection of rolls of which many are, or at least appear to be, original. Mine was fantastic and it was sort of huge. I also soaked a few orders of unagi and hamachi in wasabi laden soy sauce. The sushi was also large and they topped it with an extra piece of fish. The decor is downright shabby. For example, the wooden chairs look like something you would find in a Salvation Army shop. It isn't a stylish place but I'll go back because the food is the strength of the restaurant.

We have been loyal customers of Steve and his family for the last 5 plus years! The sushi has been amazing from day one! Always fresh and prepared as a work of art! Whenever we are in Oside we try to stop by-usually I order Salmon Teriyaki and miso soup but I just needed a light lunch today-so veggie tempura and Cali rolls did it for me! Super chill little restaurant- great customer service and REAL Japanese cuisine! Try them and you'll see. Call ahead because it can get pretty packed, but turn over is fairly quick. They are only open for lunch a few hours too I think from 1130 to like 230pm then opens back up for dinner at 5pm. This is the best sushi spot in Oceanside! Highly recommend. :D

This place is soooo good! Can't say enough. Everything we had was excellent. Will definitely be going back soon

Closed?!?! I've been visiting Steve and the ever changing crew since the early 2000's. Very very sad. I hope they regroup after the Covid issues subside.
