Bidra med feedbackDough dishes up some of the very best baked goods at Central Market. I purchased 2 x large tarts today; the lemon, and chocolate salted caramel. These were a 10/10 11/10 respectively. Absolutely perfect shortcrust with moorish fillings and a bargain at $25 for both.
While travelling from Melbourne...This place has hands down the best tarts!!! Custard, Salted Caramel, Chocolate or Nut... you name it and they have nailed it. Base is fresh and crispy. Filling is balanced and smooth. The other baked goods are of good quality. I am deeply impressed and satisfied!
Dough has amazing bread and pastry offerings. If you're looking for something a bit different bread wise Dough is a good place to start. The staff are always good for guidance and they will refer you to other market stalls for necessary bread related condiments!
Dough's display of variety of dessert and bread are just mouth watering. It is one of those eye catching display that stops you from your tracks. I have tried their sourdough bread, the lemon tart oh so tangy and just amount of lemon inside a delicious tart Base. And their French flan, I just love the custardy taste and the vanilla that you can taste and see in that custard. The Base is just the right amount of flakiness. I can't wait to try more of their bread and dessert. So far, so good!
Dough is probably a carb lover's dream come true. The display is impressive rows of artisan breads, pastries, muffins and other sweet treats. I stood there for a good few minutes trying to decide what to get.<br/ <br/ I ended up getting a Savoury Muffin, which ended up being filled with bits of bacon, and what I identified as spinach perhaps? as well as some sort of cheese. It was a definitely a dense muffin, so if you're after something light and fluffy this is probably not for you. The flavours were well balanced and I didn't find it too salty from the bacon bits. The muffin was a bit greasy from the cheese, though.<br/ <br/ I also got a Raspberry Brioche Bun. It was extremely similar to a donut in terms of texture (not sure if it was fried? . It was super soft and fluffy in the middle and had a delicious raspberry filling in the middle. The outside was coated with a dusting of granulated sugar to give it that extra bit of sweetness, because the dough itself isn't very sweet at all. This was definitely my favourite of the bunch.<br/ <br/ I also got a cute little Madeleine cookie. It was a good madeleine, but nothing mind blowing.<br/ <br/ Overall I'd say this would probably be one of the best places in the city to get baked goods. Keen to return to try their bread loaves.
