Barrs Seafood - Opp

Stopped in on a road trip since it was one of the only restaurants in the area on yelp. The place was a lovely little southern diner. I was looking for fried seafood and that is what I got, in generous portions at a very reasonable price. My dining companion had the shrimp alfredo. The shrimp was great but the alfredo sauce could have had a little more flavor. Big glasses of really good tea topped it off well. Plus they had free mints at the pay counter! The people were very friendly and accommodating as well. Definitely worth stopping in if you are looking for a good meal in that area.

We had a birthday lunch here a few weeks ago, it was very good! Fried oysters were perfect as well as the fried shrimp.

Stopped here for lunch on our way back to Atlanta from Destin, FL. Read reviews and gave it a try. This place is in downtown Opp so will need to avoid the by pass. Mainly known for their fried seafood. We were not disappointed. Arrived about 15 min. Before closing for lunch time, but they welcomed us in. Staff was friendly and polite. Wife had lunch portion of catfish fried oysters and cheese grits. I had same catfish lunch with fried shrimp and baked potato. They cook everything fresh to order using their own batter which was light and not greasy at all. Overall our experience here was great. Will definitely stop in again and try some non seafood fare.

We made a stop on our way to the Gulf Coast and were pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and very friendly, and the food was fantastic—especially the hush puppies! The ambiance was decent; nothing overly fancy, but it was clean and had a classy vibe. It felt like a step up from a typical hole-in-the-wall, offering more character than a fast-food chain. Overall, it’s a wonderful alternative to chain restaurants, featuring great food and friendly staff.

This is a fantastic spot to grab lunch after a day at the beach. The burger, chicken, and fish were all delicious! Just a tip: don't use the map link from Yelp. Instead, head to Main Street and take a right onto Covington.
