Bidra med feedbackMy trip to Asahi, Sushi Bar Restaurant: A friend and I had decided to go to another sushi restaurant, but it was closed on Monday so that we had heard good things about Asahi and since we were already in the mood, went here instead. A lucky case as it was. We were the first girls of the day and when we entered the restaurant, my friend commented on the smell of cleaning products mixed with food/fish, which was unstoppable. You just have to wipe the tables or the bar, but the smell is quickly removed and it was nice to know that they were just sanitary. The waiting staff welcomed us and immediately sat down, offered menus, took our drinks and appetizer order and returned quickly with the drinks. We decided to start with Calamari. You can usually say a good restaurant from the Calamari and it is one of the standard tests we use to evaluate a place. In this case, one could say that the Calamari was of the frozen fast variety. It was very rubbery and not very good. Fortunately, this was one of the only negatives in our meal. We ordered five reels for the main run of our meal. The roles were California, Sweet Yuzu, Roman, Asahi, P2. The Californian roller is another standard test we use, as everyone has a Californian roller, it will not break into sauce, and you get a good feeling of rice quality and freshness. The rice here was okay, just a bit on the dry side for my taste, but don't distract. We both noticed that the crab salad was a bit salty. It was a good start to the meal. My assessment of each role is as follows: California Good, but a little salty. Sweet Yuzu Well, not as sweet as I expected. Roman All right. Asahi Very good signature role, P2 My favourite. The sweet potato flakes give a good texture and taste uniqueness. I would say very well overall. You seem to like Jalapenos more than the average sushi restaurant, but I like this little heat so I enjoyed it. The taste profiles of each role were great. I'll be back at any time. It fits easily into my Top Ten Sushi Spots in Utah. The only loss of points was the salty crab salad and the cheap Calamari. If I were extremely nit picky, I would also notice the very weak fishy aftertaste on Sweet Yuzu. I don't know that most people would taste it, but it was always so easy there, not enough to lose points. Another criticism, the bar was stacked with dishes or equipment. It didn't affect the food, but it wasn't pleasant to the eye and made the restaurant scattered. If you're looking for an excellent sushi experience, I suggest you try Asahi. The sum for the Calamari and five reels came to $70.
Wow! Super impressed with everything here. I had the spicy edamame which is a house special here. Super good. We went with the dynamite, the Vegas, and the Red Dragon. All were phenomenal! The sake maki was smooth and delicious as well! Was super happy with the server Maddy. She was really nice and helpful! The Manager Ian was such a happy guy he made us feel so welcomed! Also as a side note they have really good nearly fresh wasabi at the bar and you should ask for that! Will be coming back to this one!!
First time at this restaurant and it impressed me! I went there there with some friends and we ordered Gyoza, Heart Attack Roll, Vegas Roll, Carlos Roll, and California Roll! Each Roll was delicious! The customer service was the best! They were always there for you (the customer). We had a great time at this restaurant. Also, the environment was great! Good music as well! Highly Recommended! Desserts are delicious!
Great food! Not only is the sushi top notch, but the spicy edamame is a really nice appetizer. The sukiyaki isn't my favorite in the world, but the udon dishes are great.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the staff were all very friendly, especially the manager, Ian! The space isn't too big, but the prices for sushi are about standard for the area. My favorites were the unagi maki and the Playboy roll! The Geisha roll was interesting to try, but I didn't expect it to be packed with cucumbers! Overall, great food!
