Bidra med feedbackTheir Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo is quite good but price wise it's not worth it. Definitely you get a good vibe in this restaurant but I would rather choose the price and food quality over the ambience. It's definitely a good chill place indeed.
My wife and I visited Moxie on October 24th to celebrate her recent promotion, expecting a delightful dining experience as we have had in the past. However, our visit left us rather disappointed, primarily due to the quality of the food and the lack of attention to detail in the presentation. We ordered the sirloin with smashed potatoes, and from the moment the dish arrived, it was evident that something was amiss. The smashed potatoes were disappointingly dry, and to our surprise, they came without any gravy. When we asked our server for some gravy, we were informed that it would cost an additional $4, a rather steep price for what amounted to no more than a shooter glass of gravy. At a restaurant of Moxie's caliber, such an essential component of the dish should be included or, at the very least, provided generously. The sirloin itself, the centerpiece of the meal, was unfortunately a letdown as well. It had an overwhelming and unpleasant salty taste that left us wondering if someone had played a practical joke on us. My wife took only two bites of her steak before setting it aside, unable to continue eating it. While I managed to consume my sirloin, I found myself leaving the smashed potatoes almost entirely untouched. The combination of dry potatoes and the absence of gravy made this part of the meal unappetizing. To the restaurant's credit, the server was extremely courteous and apologetic for the disappointing experience. They promptly called the manager to address our concerns. The manager made the decision to remove the cost of my wife's steak from the bill, which was appreciated. However, given the extent of our dissatisfaction with the overall meal, we believe that a more substantial gesture of goodwill would have been in order. It is disheartening to admit that we decided to cut our losses and leave the restaurant before completing our meal. Instead, we found ourselves making an unscheduled stop at a nearby McDonald's for a more satisfying conclusion to our evening. Moxie has been our go-to place for special occasions in the past, but after this experience, we are left with reservations about returning. Dining is an experience that engages all the senses, and presentation is a crucial aspect of that experience. It is clear that the new cook or chef in the kitchen needs to work on the presentation of the dishes and ensure that the quality of the food matches the restaurant's reputation. We hope that our feedback can contribute to improvements in the future so that Moxie can once again become a place where we can confidently celebrate our special moments.
Last night, we visited Moxies with high expectations, as we’ve had great experiences here in the past. Unfortunately, our recent visit left much to be desired. We arrived at 9:10 pm and promptly placed our order with the first server. However, after that initial interaction, we hardly saw them again. The service quality deteriorated rapidly from there. Despite the promising start with a timely appetizer at 9:30 pm, our experience took a nosedive. Our water glasses remained empty for extended periods, which was unusual considering the generous jars of water with ice that we usually receive. Not once did they come by to ask us if we wanted our water refilled. Our main dishes, arriving at 9:55 pm, took longer than expected. My choice, the loaded cheeseburger, was a major letdown. The patty was completely burnt and inedible after just one bite.We also ordered the featured soup, which was disappointingly watery compared to previous visits. The potato chunks inside were inconsistent, and the accompanying garlic baguette was stale, requiring considerable effort to consume. Our frustration grew when our initial server disappeared, prompting me to approach a different staff member at the front counter. This person was kind and understanding, offering to remake my burger, which meant an additional half-hour wait. At this point, I just wanted to go home and had lost my appetite for even dessert. (THE BROWNIES ARE THE BEST AT MOXIES). Only thing that was enjoyable was the iconic appetizer tuna sushi stack. To their credit, the second server suggested giving us the burger for free to take away as we settled the bill. We tipped 15% in the hope that this gratuity would go to the second server, as it was clear that the issues we encountered were not her fault. Regrettably, the first server never returned, leaving us uncertain about where our tip would end up.We’ve been loyal customers of this location, having enjoyed numerous positive experiences in the past. However, this recent visit was a significant disappointment. We hope that Moxies can address these service and quality issues to ensure that future patrons can enjoy the excellent dining experience we once knew.
The food and service were outstanding. It's the ideal spot for a laid-back date night.
I visit the Blair location once a month, and there, the servers in the upstairs area always greet me warmly, even if they aren't the ones taking my order. During my time working in Calgary, I went to Moxie's frequently and was always welcomed and recognized. I used to dine at the Innes Road location at least twice a week, but now I only go about once every month and a half. It's not that we don’t spend money—we enjoy dining out and are happy to treat ourselves. Don't get me wrong; the food and service are great, but the lack of recognition and appreciation for being a loyal customer is disappointing. As for parking, it's safe and conveniently close to the restaurant.
