Nando's Peri-peri - Ottawa

My family had to wait 30 minutes to find a spot at Nandos. It had been several years since I last visited, as the Orleans location had closed down. The restaurant was busy on a rainy Monday night. I would give the food 3 stars because the chicken size was smaller than it used to be. It seems like they are trying to save costs. The rice portion was disappointing with the full chicken deal - one person could easily finish it, even though it was supposed to be for 2 people. The portion of fries was also small. The taste of the food was good. I would give the service 4 stars, as the servers were friendly and delivered the food quickly, although they did forget some of my order. The atmosphere would also receive 4 stars, as the restaurant was crowded and delivery drivers were using the same entrance as diners. They should consider having a separate entrance for pick-up and delivery drivers. Overall, I would rate Nando's 2 stars.

My experience at Nando's was the worst I have ever had in my life. I used to believe that even if the food wasn't great, Nando's could make it taste good, but I was proven very wrong. We were a group of 9 on a slow Monday afternoon. Half of us were served promptly, but the other half had to wait over 40 minutes for our orders. We watched as other customers were served before us, only to find out that our orders had been completely forgotten even though we were the largest party there. When our food finally arrived, it was burnt and tasted extremely bitter. The orders were also wrong, and to make matters worse, the coleslaw was spoiled. We informed the manager, who was kind and professional, and he acknowledged the issue with the coleslaw and provided us with new sides as compensation. One of our party members mentioned having a similar experience, indicating that this location may need additional training. I will not be returning and I do not recommend others to visit unless they enjoy eating burnt, bitter food that is served cold and spoiled, and are willing to deal with the inconvenience and awkwardness of returning food to the kitchen.

Ordered in and just got the quarter chicken meal. The chicken itself was fine, the flavors were okay. The sides I found not particular great and not particularly hot by the time it arrived.Overall, the meal was fine, and comparable to what you'd get at swiss chalet for a similar price, but with slightly better flavor.

I ordered 2 sandwiches today and paid extra for cheese and never got the cheese. I also ordered fries for one of the sandwiches and we didn't get fries either. I also ordered a cheesecake which I didn't receive. The salad bowl I ordered was half empty with some dry pieces of lettuce and there were no dressing either. The only order that was good was the pulled chicken bowl. I drove 15 minutes to go there and I was not going back. Never going to order there again!

Nando's is definitely a unique spot. My friend and I enjoyed the different experience of ordering at the counter and feeling more involved with our food, while still being served. The staff is friendly, kind, and accommodating - a big shout out to them. As for the food, Nando's delivers high quality. The seasoning, texture, and taste of the food is excellent.
