La Chope D'or - Outreau

Situated in the E Leclerc supermarket, this offers a really good choice of dish of the day at a reasonable price. Get there early (noon) or after 2pm to be sure of a table as it is very popular for lunch and a lot of tables are reserved! Dish of the day (veal steaks with mushroom risotto when I went), beer and coffee €20.

Firstly we waited for a table and were allocated one, not cleaned or laid. We were given menus of the day and the a la carte card. Table cleaned,cutlery given minus napkins. No water or condiments given. We ordered a 25cl of the house red and one cod from the a la carte and one dish of the day bavette aloyau de. The drinks arrived,still no water or condiments,a basket of old bread,all broken bits looked like it had been at another table!! The meals arrived,the cod plate unappetising,luke warm and without any colour,a very small piece of cod,no sauce,no veg or salad and a handful of anaemic frites.....could they spare them!! The other plate looked better,a large piece of meat,covered in a mushroom sauce frites and salad. Well after plonking on the plates down,no condiments still offered or provided and nobody returned to check all is ok. The place was full with plenty of serving staff dashing up and down. We noticed the table next to us, clearly locals fussed over,condiments brought,water brought and fresh bread.... So we asked one of the servers fussing,could he take the cod away,it was just luke warm and dry, clearly dinged.. ,and he said did we want something else. No menu provided,so for speed we said just another of the bavette plates. We waited and waited....one plate now finished and eventually the replacement arrived,at last!! Was it worth the delay,disappointment etc etc, No! It was salty,lacked the mushrooms of the first plate and had just a few sad salad leaves. We ate, paid 31.70 Euros and left,NOT to return. The place lacks care,attention and doesn't provide quality 13.90 each plate we expect so much better. We never got any condiments,took napkins from ano table and were ignored!! Don't recommend,there are plenty of other places of which when next shopping we will try!!

Very warm welcome from the staff and management, very good quality dishes, I recommend this restaurant.
