Bidra med feedbackWow!!! One of the very best restaurant I ever encountered. An original and subtle type of cuisine, but without being too "complex". One small draw back: the choice of music, and its level.
Family of 5. Got the 7 course dinner. Food was very good. We enjoyed it all, especially the pulled pork ravioli. Drinks were ok to good not great. The food was served incredibly slow. We arrived at 8:30, left at 11:30pm. It was a Saturday but after 9:30 the restaurant was not full, so not sure why things were so slow. Would not go again for that reason. 2 hour dinner service is appropriate in most places. If we were lingering and chatting fine but this was not the case. 3 hours is too long. If they can solve this issue I would give it 5 stars.
This was my first time at this restaurant that is just around the corner from where I live. We arrived at 6pm (when my friend made the reservation she could choose between 6pm or 8:30pm) and although we were the first guests to arrive in the restaurant, the person who greeted us assumed we did not have a reservation. He told us he could only seat us in the back of the restaurant, at a counter facing the open kitchen. Not the nicest spot in my opinion, but my friend was ok with it. The menu arrived, without any explanation (my friend had been there before, but it was my first time). All in all, not a good start, I didn't feel particular welcome and if it had been up to me, I would have probably walked out. After a while however we were told we could get another, slightly better spot; the reservation had been found after all - the person who took the reservation had misheard my friend's name. The food - we took the 5 course tasting menu - is creative and tasty, but nothing really wowed me. I like the concept of the chefs preparing small dishes with the ingredients they have on hand that day, but I had expected fresher, cleaner tastes. The dessert was disappointing. The courses followed each other too quickly for my taste - within 2 hours we were in and out of the restaurant.Ambiance: loud and intrusive music, uncomfortable chairs. We were seated at a counter facing the chefs at work - interesting, but it does not provide a relaxing, intimate dining experience.
My wife and I and our 3 children (16, 15, 12) went here while in Montreal for the Easter long weekend. We ordered the 5-course tasting menu and each course was incredible, exceeding our expectations. The kids agreed this was the best meal they have ever had and we've visited a number of nice restaurants. Given there is no menu and the ingredients change each day based on what they purchase, finding a way to visit again will be a must! In addition to he food, the service was also very friendly making the whole experience an excellent one.
I can't say enough positive things about our experience at Provisions 1268. I went with my husband and teenage daughter while spending a few days in Montreal. We had seats at the bar overseeing the kitchen and not only had a completely fabulous meal, but the entertainment of watching the chefs prepare various dishes for the diners. We had the 5 course + surprises menu and had a series of plates served to us that were beautiful in appearance, complex in their ingredients, and completely delicious. As other diners have noted, you don't get to choose your meal. Instead, you get to review a list of ingredients that are on post-it notes on the wall and let them know if there are any that you don't want. The chef will adjust the dishes that you get based on what you've ruled out and in. Giving up control about what you are going to get may sound risky, but it's totally a risk worth taking! Every course that we had was amazing. Not one that we didn't like. In fact, at the end of the meal, we were reviewing what we had been served and couldn't decide which course each of us liked best.I'd recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat and will definitely be back next time I return to Montreal.
