The only reason we found ourselves in Palm Springs a week ago, on our way back to Tucson from LA, was to stop by Great Shakes once again. What sets Great Shakes apart is not just their incredibly delicious flavors, but also their consideration for those of us who are lactose intolerant; they use a lactose-free ice cream base! Their milkshakes are made with 100% ice cream and contain no milk filler, and they provide sturdy plastic straws that are perfect for enjoying their creamy creations. My wife and I both agreed that they are easily the best shakes we've ever tasted. I can confidently say that any future trips near Palm Springs will definitely include another visit to Great Shakes!

The location is fantastic, and it has a lovely retro vibe that's perfect for relaxing and people-watching from the window seats. This is a fantastic spot right in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. There are plenty of flavors to choose from. I tried the classic chocolate shake, asking for less whipped cream. It was thick and creamy, and it came with a delightful mini cake as a bonus.

Great shakes are really great! Super thick and sweet, but not too sweet. The little donut was a nice addition to both drinks. Next time I'm in Palm Springs I'm sure I'll be back!
