Mr Seafood Palmerston North

After searching for quality fish and chips in Palmy for seven months, I finally found a fantastic place. I received a recommendation to try this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. They have an impressive selection of seafood, offering fresh, frozen, and cooked options. The cooked dishes are beautifully presented, and the portions of chips are the best I've encountered in Palmy. The establishment is spotlessly clean, and the staff have been friendly and welcoming during my visits. I'm very impressed!

I usually order the fish of the day, and this time it was Terakihi, which was delicious. They always provide juicy lemon wedges that are perfect for squeezing over the fish. However, be aware that they don't accept credit cards—only EFTPOS or cash. I made the mistake of bringing only my credit card and had to go back home to get my EFTPOS card.

The experience was pleasant overall. It seemed like we received an extra fish, as they were quite small—about half the length of a woman's hand and a bit smaller, roughly the width of a pinky finger to the palm. Perhaps that’s why they included the extra fish. We also had a trifle for dessert, which was nice, though a bit pricey at $50 for the meal. Unfortunately, the paua fritters were overly salty, which masked the taste of the paua itself—definitely a disappointment. The mussels were small and chewy, appearing to be frozen rather than fresh. On a positive note, the garlic chips were enjoyable.

Used to be nice, but don't think the oil in the deep fryer is being changed as often now that oil is expensive. Last two times fish and chips have tasted like old oil so I've found some where else.

I asked for a vege burger, he asked if I 'd like an egg added, I said yes that would be lovely .. no egg, charged for it tho, it was basic as looked horrible!
