Bidra med feedbackFive adults met for dinner in this restaurant. We were seated right down the back, next to the door to the kitchen. The tables and chairs are heavy and clunky. There were no other diners: all the other customers were takeaway orders. This should have meant quick and attentive service, but the waiter was more intent on ferrying takeaway orders to the front counter than on paying attention to us when we were ready to order drinks and food. He was said he was new. Regardless of the indifferent service, the menu offered many choices and the drinks list was adequate. All of us enjoyed the food very much; and we felt the prices were reasonable value. The restaurant needs a makeover. If it doesn't get many sitdown customers, it should partition half the dining room and replace the tables and chairs.
We used to dine here regularly for the tasty, good value meals. We left the restaurant on Tuesday night saying worst ever meal and we would never return. The two waitresses, with limited English, were in a state of confusion unable to answer questions about dishes, losing parts of our order, telling us our first two requests for wine were unavailable, then after 15 minutes they had no red wine ! Our chicken main course came without the ordered steam rice, nor a serving spoon. Sometime later the other main course arrived bearing no resemblance to the ordered pulled pork with ginger. Instead several pancake like rolls rested on some cool cooked bok choy in sitting in lukewarm water in a glass bowl. Inside the cold rolls was some mince. No taste, no sauce, inedible. We left soon after, leaving behind most of our meal. When paying we asked why the dish wasn't what we had ordered. The staff member looked at us, looked at the menu, looked at the dish and told us she had no name for this in English. There was no apology. We won't return.
The welcome was not overwhelming. Some of the waiting staff had poor command of English. The food was just OK. The wine list was unimpressive. Avery forgettable experience
We went there many years ago and it was fantastic, so we decided to go there again. The new menu looked fanciful but the food was ordinary i.e more homestyle cooking and lacked finesse and presentation. We ordered Charcoal grilled Lemongrass Chicken. It was a small serving with too much iceburg lettuce. Taste was good. The Smoked Tea Duck looked uninviting but tasted ok. BBQ Bean and Pork was tasty. Monk Hot Pot was good but the Scezhuan Squid was not authentic nor delicious. The waitress were helpful and friendly but lacked service skill. For a restaurant that charged us $24 for corkage ($6 per head), we would expect them to come over to open and pour our wine. I think many Chinese Immigrants are in Adelaide. They are buying many Asian restaurants but they are not trained in the business nor their chefs are trained. I would never return to many of these restaurants and Rice is close to making it on my list. I hope the owners and chef(s) will lift their food presentation and improve the taste to entice me back again
We were staying nearby and decided to try this restaurant one evening. It is tastefully decorated, the staff courteous and a pleasant place to eat. The food ordered was plentiful and delicious. A very good restaurant for Chinese food.
