Prince of Wales Hotel - PENOLA

The steak is cooked how you like it, and the daily specials are well priced and sized. The front bar cheese burger is great, and if chicken kiev is on the menu - get it!

We were hankering for a steak last night and decided to try the POW. This is a typical no frills pub and the meals are typical pub grub....but very, very good. Friendly staff, great local wines by the glass...a great package! I had the 400 Gm Scotch fillet, the lovely had the Eye fillet. Both were requested medium, both cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. Washed down with a magnificent Katnook estate 2015 Cab Sav......left a happy man!!

We had a lovely drive to Penola and being a long weekend we found the town very busy and as only 2 places were open in the main street we thought we would try the Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with the lovely couple who were running the bar and the restaurant. The food was excellent and the the service was superb. Would highly recommend this country pub to anyone who is passing through Penola

Taking the advice of other reviewers, we order traditional pub fare and weren't disappointed. Perfectly cooked steak with prawns and garlic sauce, good carbonara pasta and a grilled chicken breast with parma topping - all good. The service was no different from the service we experienced all over Penola - slowish but friendly. I would definitely go back.
