The white dumplings steam hot. Add juicy goulash meat and then there are plenty of brown onion sauce over it. The new Czech restaurant Babicka is still closed on the market in Pirna. The official opening will take place on 15 October. But the new host Josef Mi?ek had already invited some guests to the tasting dinner. Until the beginning of the year the restaurant was opened under the name Gasthaus Marieneck. However, the then operator retreated. The 45-year-old comes from Teplice and wants to bring Bohemian Czech cuisine to Pirna. The menu includes cream beef, beef goulash and pork roasts. Of course also dumplings. There are Bohemian beer and wines from South Moravia. At the moment, Micek puts his team together and is already very far. All colleagues come from the Czech Republic, he says, but speak well German. By the way, just like him himself, an accent is rarely heard. In the Dresden gastro scene, Micek is not an unknown. There he runs the restaurant Hurvínek and in Weißig the restaurant Schwejk. How did he get to Pirna? Quite simply, I was already here in 2019 in the former inn Marieneck and had made the catering. Until then, Pirna was for me always only the city right next to the highway when I drove from Czech Republic to Dresden, he says. The visit to the Pirna city centre three years ago led him to the streets and the beautiful atmosphere of Pirna. The houses are all refurbished, the whole atmosphere is right and I love the Canaletto view, Micek describes his first impression of the city at that time. That's why he was at once bright-hearing when in the spring the broker of the empty place asked if he didn't want to run the Marieneck as a Czech inn. However, he did not say the same, but at first shy incognito in the evening through the streets of the city centre to look again at everything. Then I realized that I am doing my third restaurant in Pirna, because there is generally a diverse and high-quality gastronomy. This fits my concept, explains the entrepreneur. And the Pirnaers seem to be thrilled. Micek and his team had already sold drinks and food from a beer car in front of the Babi?ka. The resonance? Positive. Many guests wanted to know when we are opening and whether we can also register family celebrations. You can. There is an extra room. Also the small guests have their own area and can be a bit louder in the playroom while the adults are quietly entertained in the guest room. Of course, in the summer season you can also savour beer outside on the outdoor areas. And Josef Micek has plans. As soon as his gastronomy runs, he could also imagine offering a framework programme. Czech musicians for concerts already have his hand. Czech cakes and Bohemian pastries are also to be found in Babicka. Why the name Babicka (to English Grandma)? To answer, Josef Micek is not embarrassed. Karel is our God and everyone connects his hit Babicka with the Czech Republic. There are also the Babicka from the famous puppet theater Spejbl and Hurvínek, which almost everyone knows. By the way, the Konterfei was painted by the already deceased singer Karel Gott on the inside wall of the restaurant, as well as Babicka's sewing puppies were comfortably furnished next to the large fireplace in the guest room with a loft and a sewing box. Original Czech ambience is therefore guaranteed. Josef Micek lives and loves his profession as a host. For me there was no other choice, he grumbles and delivers the statement immediately. His grandpa was Metzger, his grandma worked at the hotel. His mother is a trained cook and also his father, who was also considered a culinary ambassador in the Czech Republic and received many awards for his dishes. But Josef Micek also has a good portion of humor and indicates his somewhat more extensive waist. You see, I love the food myself and especially our good Bohemian cuisine. I would like to share this love with my guests. Found at:[here link]
