Among the best fish and chips we've ever had. Dropped in on a Friday night at about 6:30 and it was busy but we got a table just as two people left. Good choices on the menu including clams, oysters, scallops and a few choices for fish. My wife had the ling cod and chips while I opted for 1 pice ling cod and one piece halibut It was served piping hot, the batter wasn't overly thick (which is a good thing) and the pieces of fish were large.Even towards the end as we ploughed through the ample portions and the food cooled of, it didn't get greasy, which is something we both appreciate. The ling cod was very good but the halibut was out of this world, having an almost sweet flavour and beautiful texture. The homemade coleslaw was likewise very good and not vinegary in any way. Overall - excellent food and a great value for the money. Service was excellent as well as the servers were both efficient and liked to joke around. Austin's has another location in Mission and we've tried it but the Pitt Meadows location was better in all respects - decor, ambience and food quality.
Went there before a movie. Service was good courteous. Menu varied. Price compatible to high. Portion size good. They have family menu itemsSay many waiting for takeout orders, some families and small groups. So it has a following in the Pitt Meadows are. The product. Chips were nice and crispy looked good but floury and dry. Good/bad. Fish (ling cod) was good, cooked well; but to me the batter seemed a little crumby? Better than some where it is heavy or dark. Coleslaw ok. Tartar sauce was mostly mayonnaise with a little pickle. Just ok. Takeout is cheaper than eat in. Verdict. Wouldn't go back but it was ok and supported locally so it was ok
If your ordering takeout then I would recommend ordering here. If your eating in and don't like waiting then I would recommend it. The service in the restaurant is very slow and always has been. The food is good and I think it's the best fish and chips in town.
We go to Austin Fish n Chips from time to time and the food is always decent. The portions are on the larger side and the fries are great. Pricing is fair and the staff are friendly. We watched them seat people 5 minutes past their closing time with no complaints at all! That doesn't happen often these days!
