Bidra med feedbackThe food was incredible! The fried chicken had a perfectly crispy exterior and was tender and juicy on the inside. The potato salad was creamy and packed with flavor, the mac and cheese was flawless, and the greens were exceptional! I can't wait to return time and time again! Our service was excellent; despite the restaurant being very busy due to Mother's Day, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive!
Who doesn’t love Southern cooking?! I visited Carmis and ordered chicken, yams, and mac and cheese, and it was absolutely amazing. I devoured every last bite on my plate before leaving. The cornbread was so fresh; it felt like enjoying a slice of freshly baked cake! I would definitely go back anytime!
I called in late for a takeout order at 8:15 PM, just 45 minutes before closing. The staff member who took my order was friendly and cheerfully helped me choose smothered chicken, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, and macaroni and cheese. When I arrived at 8:45 PM, the two women preparing the dining room for closing were both warm and welcoming. The woman who handed me my order seemed genuinely pleased to see me supporting the restaurant. As for the food, it was fantastic! I couldn’t find fault with any aspect of my meal. The chicken was moist, the macaroni and cheese was creamy and full of flavor, the mashed potatoes were genuine, and the cornbread stuffing had a lovely sweetness. I only wish I had remembered to ask for butter for the piece of cornbread, but it was delicious even without it. I was also impressed with how the takeout container was lined with wax paper to keep the gravy from mixing with the other food. I had never seen that before! I’ve shared with my coworkers that I’m giving Carmi's two thumbs up. My third reason for writing this review concerns the restaurant's exterior. Although it’s located in a great spot, it occupies a former bar and lacks windows that could allow passersby to see inside and get a sense of the atmosphere. The signage is small and easy to overlook, while the front of the building is quite plain and unremarkable. Unfortunately, the exterior doesn't reflect the inviting warmth of the delicious down-home southern cooking inside. Don't hesitate to try Carmi's! I'm so glad I finally did, and I am looking forward to experiencing their Friday catfish special and sampling some of their breakfast offerings.
Excellent experience! I was in Pittsburgh for a work Seminar...I was craving soul food before I left the city. I was an hour away from home...and never had any soul food in Pittsburgh. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by the friendly cashier's. The food is authentic soul food! I got the 3 wing chicken dinner with macaroni and cheese...greens...and an extra side of candied yams. Delicious! Even the corn bread was good. I definitely will be back...can't wait to try other dishes. Courteous staff and great food...keep up the great work!
Chix and Waffles!. I've only been to Carmi's once. Brought back some memories It' housed in what used to be the famous Shamrock Inn. Carmi's does it's predecessor justice. <br/ <br/ I had the chicken and waffles for breakfast and I will say it's one of the best chicken breasts I've had. Super juicy and flavorful. And the homemade waffle was WAY above par. I will definitely return. I totally endorse this place based on this single visit. I can see from the quality of this meal, the rest will be just as good. The staff and service was friendly and attentive. Give it a try.
