Mezzo At Sienna Mercato Second Floor Only

Mezzo is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. The food and service are always top notch. I was disappointed this time because my friend and I were at the restaurant 15 minutes before they opened. Mezzo was wonderful and seated us and we were even able to order a glass of wine. We ordered our food and 50 minutes later we had to ask where it was. Our waitress was wonderful and checked immediately. She brought our meals within minutes. I had the Pork Sugo and at best it was room temperature, the sauce was starting to dry on the pasta. It was very apparent to me that it had been sitting for a while. My friend had the Chicken Risotto (special of the day). She said hers was very hot. We had to eat quickly and missed an engagement we had registered for. Very disappointed!!! I do like Mezzo and woukd go back however this is the 2nd time this has occurred in the past year.

We visited Sienna Mercato for a family outing and sat on the second level, known as the “mezzo” level. The menu offered a nice variety of starters, including fried zucchini, charcuterie, hummus, olives, and more. I tried the fried zucchini, which was presented in a little chip and dip style. It was different from what I'm used to, but still quite tasty. For my main course, I ordered the Funghi pizza and added sausage based on the waitress's recommendation, which turned out to be an excellent choice. My family all opted for the same pizza, and we all loved it. We definitely plan to return!

I was disappointed that there was no pizza the night I was there. So, I ordered a pasta dish that was uninspired. My husband, on the other hand, loved his dish. And by the way, the salad was delicious.

The restaurant was out of many menu items. I ordered the Genovese, but it barely had any meat and the flavor seemed off.

I was disappointed to find that there were no pizzas or draft beer available. The menu was quite limited because several items were sold out. Although the wait for our food exceeded an hour and the restaurant wasn’t even full, I must say the food was delicious and the service was good. Given the long wait and the restricted menu, I expected at least a complimentary appetizer or something similar.
