Bidra med feedbackIt is not cheap but you do get class. You can choose to have 2 courses for $65 or 3 courses for $75. It seemed logical to have 3 courses as you basically on then getting either an entrée or dessert for $10.The scallops were very well prepared and the cauliflower puree and asparagus that accompanied the dish blended perfectly. Those in our group that had the prawns were also rapt by the combination with the buttered peas. For mains most of our group chose the eye fillet. A bit disappointing as the flavour just didn’t seem quite right. Maybe the chef had an off night. Those that had the crispy skin fish were enraptured. The combination with mussel chowder and crumbed mussels was scrumptious. The highlight were the desserts. The brulee, fondant and carpaccio were 10 out of 10.The restaurant is in beautiful surrounding in the Kirkton Park Hotel. An easy drive from Cessnock and the surrounds. The staff are most attentive and pleasant. Very well trained, friendly yet unobtrusive.
We had drinks in the bar. It is very comfortable and cosy with an open fire. A good selection of cocktails, wines and beers.
We booked into the Locavore restaurant during our recent stay at Kirkton Park. The wait were attentive at times but struggled to get the small details right. We were seated and my partner and I realised we'd received two different menus. We ordered two cocktails ($20ea) and as a margarita lover mine was out of balance and too acidic. The food for our 3 courses ($75 deal) overall was good but the salad with our eye fillet mains looked like a bag of caesar salad from woolworths. The staff were nice but we had to ask for wine list after our drinks were empty for a long time and not cleared. $230 bill didn't leave us feeling spoilt.
Repeat customer , awesome fresh food and presentation. Great customer service ,No complaints everything was cooked to perfection .Good value for money .We will definetly be back again.
For Sunday dinner I was searching for somewhere new in the valley and Locavore came up in my google search. I'd heard good things for work colleagues and I wasn't disappointed! 3 courses for $75 is very reasonable and the serving sizes were definitely enough for someone who is a big eater. The menu provides around 5 options for each course, and it was hard to choose between every option as everything sounded great. Pork belly for entire was very good, being juicy and not overly fatty. Main of eye fillet was cooked perfectly to medium rare as ordered and tasted amazing. Desert was chocolate fondant which was very tasty especially coming from a chocoholic. The service was excellent, attentive, happy and chatty. A fantastic dining experience and I would recommend Locavore to anyone. Just an all round great experience.
