Sweet Soul Kitchen - Pontiac

This restaurant offers a wonderful and elevated dining experience. The staff members were incredibly friendly, and the open kitchen allowed us to witness the food being freshly prepared. I tried the roasted chicken and catfish, both made to order, ensuring they were hot and delicious! Be sure to bring plenty of floss, as the corn on the cob tends to get stuck in your teeth—though you could always save it for a snack later, HAHAHA! The seasoning was spot on, so there was no need for extra salt or hot sauce. The pound cake was soft and moist, and I can’t wait to try the peach cobbler. All the vegetables are vegan-friendly, so there’s no meat in the greens, but they were still tasty. The mac and cheese was wonderfully creamy, and the Kool-Aid was refreshing!

We visited for the first time today and are certain we’ll return! The owners were warm and welcoming, taking the time to thoroughly explain the menu. The food did not disappoint at all! We tried the chicken and catfish, and both dishes were fantastic! Finally, a place where my husband could enjoy a variety of options that didn’t include meat! Great food, excellent service, and genuine restaurant owners.

I visited today after having some dental work, so I needed to stick to soft foods. What could be better than yams and mac and cheese? I'm definitely planning to return! The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, and the gentleman behind the counter was very kind and welcoming. From what I was able to taste, the food is absolutely delicious. The only downside to my visit was that I found the peach cobbler a bit too runny for my liking. However, having experience with soul food, I understand that it can vary each time, and that's perfectly fine. I appreciate authentic meals made by genuine people. I'm not always perfect in my own kitchen either! I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. Keep up the great work, Sweet Soul Kitchen!

I was hesitant to go all the way to Waterford for some food, but I'm so glad I did! I had the chicken wing dinner with Yams, Greens, a peach side. The food was so good! Best soul food I had in a while. I called my order shortly after the opening and when I arrived, it was ready to go. The place is very clean, the menu is clear, and all foods can be seen for customers. Great staff and there are even tables for customers to sit while they wait! I'll be back sooner than later!

Ive ordered several times and unfortunately food has been consistently disappointing. Corn bread is tasty but vegetables are very Salty. Most vegetables/potatoes taste as if they come from a can or box and are seasoned to spruce them up. Mac and cheese is not recommendable. Overall food is lacking but the service is good and restaurant is clean and inviting.
