Bidra med feedbackAll we wanted was a cold beer after a great tour of the HMCS Ojibwa. I guess we should have checked Trip Advisor first but this place looked promising - they had other customers on the patio. We headed inside where it would be cooler but were directed to seat ourselves outside.Well the server (perhaps she was new??) looked perplexed when we asked what she had so I asked for one in particular...nope. Requested another brand and yes, they had that so to make it simple we all ordered the same. A few minutes later she returned to tell us it wasn't cold so what would we like instead. This should be their busy season, they should be prepared for customers. We then just asked what was cold and I have to say, the 4 brands she mentioned...I think they were the weekend leftovers and they hadn't bothered to restock. If we're in the village again, based on our experience and other reviews, we won't be back to the Erie Cove.
We were camping near by and had been out touring the sights. We popped in for a cold beverage and a bite to eat. We walked into the restaurant and the man behind the bar yelled "seat yourselves" while another man sitting in a chair told us to get our own menus. We were surprised but sat down outside. The patio is very strange with shrubs all over it.About 10 mins later a man came out and we said we would have 3 ice tea, 1 Coke, an order of onion rings and jalapeño poppers. The man turned to my husband and said how many onion rings would you like? We were confused as we had said an order. So my husband said "a basket full?" And the man walked away. Shortly after that we were brought our drinks and a plate of onion rings. The jalapeño poppers never arrived. We finished eating and wanted our bill so my husband went inside to pay. They charged us for 4 orders of onion rings since there was 4 people .... $5.99 x 4 for a plate of onion rings????? Honestly I wish I had taken a picture of the plate. We paid $20 for maybe 20-25 onion rings. We truly felt like we were on a hidden camera show. It was the strangest thing we've experienced. Needless to say we paid our bill and won't be returning. So many better options!! Save your money.
My wife and I were out for leisurly drive to Port Burwell hoping to enjoy lunch at one of the local eateries. we drove by the Erie Cove Restaurant and saw the open sign--we have never dined here before. we were the only customers in at lunch when a family group came in. we ordered our first cup of coffee--it was given to us with a large quantity of coffee grounds swimming on top--I don't know how this was not noticed in the kitchen before it came to our table. apparently, the coffee was made without a coffee filter. we ordered a perch platter to share and were looking forward to a tasty meal. the meal came hot but the ketchup we asked for came at the end of the meal along with the panini bread. we overheard the table with 3 family generations request chocolate milk for the children. this item was not available as no chocolate milk was in stock. the staff at this restaurant are not prepared to run a restaurant nor professional in their operation of one. my first impression should have given me warning signs when seeing the large aquariam--which is prolifically filthy dirty
All in all the stop in this place was decent. The staff was friendly and the food was decent. Nothing spectacular but I did enjoy the fish and chips. There are lots of windows there allowing for an elevated view from the restaurant as well.
We enjoyed their perch platter for two. Comes with a choice of home made fries, or table, ceaser, or Greek salad. I enjoyed the Greek salad. Comes with an okay piece of cake--the dessert was a little disappointing.Servers were very pleasant.View of the river and lake are wonderful.
